The Ortel T-Neck and T-Neck Plus must be fitted individually to each patient by
qualified experts. At least two people are needed for the first fitting: One to hold the
head and neck of the patient in the correct position while the other fits the orthosis.
Putting on in the supine position:
Opening the orthosis
1. Detach the rear head section from the orthosis by loosening the Velcro fasteners
on the left- and right-hand sides (Fig. 1).
2. Simultaneously pull the two buttons on the front of the orthosis toward the
centre to release the lock, then move the chinrest down to the lowest position
(Fig. 2).
Putting on the orthosis
3. The patient is in the supine position with head relaxed. Make sure to keep the
patient's head in neutral. Don't extend the front too far as this could put the
patient's neck into hyperextension.
Slide the rear head section under the neck of the patient (Fig. 3). Use the straps to
centre the rear head section between ear and upper shoulder.
4.Slide the front frame into the appropriate position on the patient's neck, hold
the front section of the orthosis in place and put the sides of the orthosis close
to the patient's neck. Now close the orthosis by alternately tightening the Velcro
straps (Fig. 4), making them the same length on each side. (Protruding ends can be
shortened using scissors if necessary.)
5. To adjust the chin height, pull the two buttons on the front section of the ortho-
sis toward the centre and then slowly raise the chinrest to the required neutral
position (Fig. 5) so that the patient's chin rests on the foam padding.
6. Release the buttons to lock in position once the correct angle is found. Please
make sure that the adjusted height is the same on each side (Fig. 6) and locked in
position properly.
7.If the orthosis has been fitted properly, it should no longer be possible for the
chin to slip.
Putting on in the seated position:
Opening the orthosis
1. Detach the rear head section from the orthosis by loosening the Velcro fasteners
on the left- and right-hand sides (Fig. 1).
2. Simultaneously pull the two buttons on the front of the orthosis toward the
centre to release the lock, then move the chinrest down to the lowest position
(Fig. 2).
Putting on the orthosis
3.Place the patient in a neutral position with the head aligned to the centre.
4. Slide the front frame into the appropriate position on the neck (Fig. 7) and place
the neck section of the orthosis centrally on the neck. Then attach the neck section
to the left- and right-hand side of the orthosis using the Velcro fasteners (Fig. 8)
by alternately tightening the Velcro straps so that they are the same length on
both sides. The straps should be between the ear and upper shoulder (Fig. 9).
(Protruding ends can be shortened using scissors if necessary.)
5.To adjust the chin height, pull the two buttons on the front section of the ortho-
