RECOMMENDATIONS FOR ENGINE USE AND OPERATION
The engine has been designed and manufactured to meet all the operating conditions indicated by the
manufacturer. Tampering with any device in order to enhance performance other than those provided
for may entail risks to safety, personal health, economic damages and incur penalties governed by the
applicable laws in force.
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
For operating the engine properly, a propeller
must be selected and used that allows the engine
to operate in accordance with the established
maximum engine rpm and power curve with the
throttle lever pushed to maximum travel.
A propeller that does not meet the above require-
ments causes higher fuel consumption, premature
wear and engine damage.
IMPORTANT
the engine and contact an authorised VM MO-
TORI FCA ITALY workshop for the necessary
cleaning and restoration.
EFFECTS OF ALTITUDE AND CLIMATE
A loss of engine performance may be caused by:
high altitude, high ambient temperature, low baro-
metric pressure, high percentage of humidity.
The engine is equipped with an engine control
unit that reduces the effects caused by altitude
and climate.
ENGINE RUNNING-IN
ered as a running-in period.
During this time, it is recommended to observe
the following requirements in order to achieve the
best engine performance:
- Do not operate at constant speed for long peri-
ods.
- Do not operate at full acceleration until the en-
gine has reached its operating temperature (80°C
- 95°C / 176°F - 203°F).

ENGINE USE INFORMATION
In order to ensure the correct engine operation,
it is recommended to check periodically, at
regular intervals, the components connected to
electrical wiring, etc.
For these components, follow the instructions
for use and maintenance prescribed by the
manufacturer of the boat where the engine is
installed.
Ventilate the engine compartment by means of
a bilge ventilator or by opening the bilge door.
The engine control unit cannot, however, compen-
sate for overloads or variations in the conditions
of the boat where the engine is installed.
-
- Do not operate for long periods at less than one
compatibly with a safe operation.
- Carry out routine checks and maintenance as
described on page 34 and routine maintenance
operations as described in the table on pages
35-36.
- Occasionally operate at full throttle for no more
throttle for long periods of time.
- Avoid sudden accelerations from minimum rpm
to maximum rpm.
