Making the Facing Block
(Fig. 61)
Make
the
Facing
3"(25.4 mm x 76.2 mm) pieces. Position the two
sections of the Facing Block 102 together, and fas-
ten them with glue and wood screws.
The total height of the Facing Block should match
the height of the Rip Fence.
For the proper use of the Facing Block 102, see
"Repetitive Crosscutting" on page 51.

Making Rip Fence Auxiliary Facing
(Fig. 62, Fig. 63)
When using dado accessories, an Auxiliary Facing
105 board should be used. This will help prevent
damage to the aluminum Rip Fence 9. The Auxiliary
Facing 105 should be made of 3/4" (19 mm) thick
wood. Fig. 62 provides dimensional plans to make
an Auxiliary Facing 105 board to fit this saw.
The Auxiliary Facing 105 is made to the same
height, 2-5/8" (66.68 mm) as the Rip Fence 9 and
can work with the Smart Guard System 11 in place
when moving the Rip Fence 9 to contact the Blade
31.
Auxiliary Facing 105 has to be clamped in two
places within 1-1/2" (38.1 mm) of its ends. Care
should be taken not to clamp over the Push Stick,
or damage the Push Stick mounts.

Making Tall Rip Fence Auxiliary Facing
(Fig. 64, Fig. 65)
When making non-through cuts, such as rabbet
cuts, it will be necessary to use a Tall Rip Fence
Auxiliary Facing 106 to properly support the work-
piece. This facing also allows for clamping of ac-
cessories such as feather boards.
To create this work helper, first a backing board in
the size of the Auxiliary Facing 106 must be made
and two 3/8" holes, approximately 2" deep, need
to be drilled in the edge of the backing board.
These holes should be located approximately 4"
form the ends of the backing board as shown in
Fig. 64. Finally, a 3/4" thick board must be at-
tached to the backing board using glue and 1-1/4"
long wood screws. Height of this additional board
should match the needs of the sawing operation
being performed.
Universal Fence Clamps with clamp arm diameter
of 3/8" are needed to clamp the Tall Rip Fence Aux-
iliary Facing 106 to the Rip Fence 9. Be sure to
clamp the universal clamps as shown in Fig. 65.
