This procedure must be performed whenever
there are doubts about the aligner's measure-
ments, or if several cars are found to have crooked
steering wheels after adjustment.
Make sure that the calibrator and sensors are per-
fectly levelled before starting the procedure.
The danger sign warns that if you continue with
the calibration the previous values will be over-
written. Select the
the
icon to abort.
The sensor values displayed on the screen are
on a green or red background depending on
whether or not they are inside the tolerance
range. The icon only becomes active, allowing
the user to continue with the procedure, if the
values are stable and within the tolerance range.
Select it to save the calibration values, or press
the ESC key to abort the procedure. The end of
the operation and saving of the new calibration
values are shown by figure

Calibration log

To access the calibration log, select the icon from
the calibration procedure main screen.
The log contains the date when the data were
saved, the operator and any working notes. The
icon identifies 0 calibration and the
icon full scale calibration.
If you select an old calibration procedure and
press "Enter", the mechanical values of the
sensors will be displayed in a screen similar to
the calibration screen. An analysis of the varia-
tion in the mechanical values over time can be
useful for troubleshooting any problems on
the sensors.
The values are saved at the end of the calibration
procedures. Apart from the operator's details
and the working notes, the system also prompts
input of the serial numbers of the tools used for
calibration.

RADIo VERsIon

It makes no difference whether the radio aligner
sensors are connected to the central unit by
wire or radio. They are powered by a NiMH bat-
tery which must be removed from the sensor
and placed in the battery charger supplied for
charging. Corghi S.p.A. declines all responsibility
deriving from the use of non-original batteries
and battery chargers.
The battery charger is able to manage 4 battery
packs simultaneously, charging and/or discharg-
ing each of them separately.
The relative LED (A, Fig. 45) indicates that
the battery charger is powered up. The mains
power supply for which the battery charger is
preset is specified on the label connected to
the mains lead.
To charge a battery pack, fit it into one of the 4
slots, taking care that it is connected correctly
(insert the battery in the direction shown by the
arrows on the battery pack and the charger itself
(C,Fig. 45), and wait for the corresponding charge
LED (B, Fig. 45) to go out.
To discharge the battery completely (which
should be done every week), after fitting it press
the discharge key (D, Fig. 45) for its slot. The dis-
charge LED (E Fig. 45) indicates that discharging
is in progress and charging starts automatically
when discharging is completed.
To save energy, the sensors are equipped with
a timed switch-off system. To switch them back
on, use the on key (A Fig.25). The battery charge
status is shown by the LED H (Fig. 25), which
flashes when the battery is running down.
To ensure that the batteries fitted on the radio
aligner sensors provide the stated performance
with a normal working lifetime, a number of rec-
ommendations must be followed:
1) When charging new batteries for the first
time, place all four batteries in the battery
charger and allow them to complete a full
charge cycle. The yellow LED of the battery
charger goes out at the end of the cycle.
Remove the four batteries from the battery
charger, put them back in it and allow them
to complete a second full charge cycle; this
cycle will be shorter than the last.
2) Make sure that all the batteries are com-
pletely discharged and recharged at least
once a week. Batteries can also be discharged
when fitted in the battery charger, by keep-
ing the discharge key (D Fig.45) pressed for
5 seconds.
