7. Open the process gas outlet valve (6) if applicable.
start-up a 208/a 209
Danger! Before starting operation, use the nameplate to check whether the panel to be used is suitable
for the planned application purpose (type of gas, pressure, material, etc.).
Warning! Before turning on the pressure devices ensure that no-one will be endangered by starting
operation of the pressure devices.
Before starting operation and pressurizing the gas supply system, if necessary carry out own gas purging.
Check that purging and vent gas lines and the pigtail/hose are connected correctly and securely. Close all
valves.
Turn the changeover lever to the right. Slowly open the cylinder valves right/left. Slowly open process gas
valves right/left. The changeover lever always points in the direction of the cylinder being emptied first.
5.8 exchanging the cylinder
Danger! When changing the cylinder with toxic, corrosive gases, the appropriate protection measures
are to be taken to protect personnel (breathing apparatus, eye protection and protective clothing).
notiCe! Maximum permissible values of the concentration at the place of work must be heeded and
have the correct breathing protection filters available.
Danger! If toxic or corrosive gases have been extracted from the cylinder, before exchanging the
empty cylinder, the vent gas line must be purged with inert gas. This ensures that any gas remaining in
the pigtail/hose is safely disposed of through the vent gas line.
1. Close the cylinder valve (1) of the gas cylinder.
2. Close the process gas outlet valve (6) and/or inlet valve (11) if applicable.
3. Purge with a separate gas in the case of toxic, corrosive or self-igniting gases.
4. Release the connecting pigtail/hose, (2) from the cylinder valve.
5. When using a dry filter exchange the filter basket with every cylinder exchange (see separate
instruction sheet).
6. Connect the new cylinder of process gas.
7. Before restarting operation, purge the panel with either own gas or separate gas with subsequent
process as appropriate.
Refer to section "Own gas purging" and "Separate gas purging"
exchanging the cylinder on a 208/a 209 panels
The exchange of the cylinder takes place once one of the cylinders has been emptied. It is assumed that
the changeover lever point to the empty cylinder (observe pressure gauge display). The exchange of the
cylinder should be carried out early enough so that a continuous supply of gas is ensured.
If required, use a contact pressure gauge with a signal box for early warning of "lack of gas".
1. Turn the changeover lever to the opposite side from the cylinder to be exchanged – to exchange the
cylinder on the right turn it to the left etc. The changeover lever always points to the cylinder being
emptied first. Now exchange the cylinder.
2. Close the process gas valve and the cylinder valve on the gas cylinder.
3. Release the remaining pressure via purge gas valve.
4. Remove the connecting pigtail/hose from the cylinder valve.
5. Connect the new cylinder of process gas. See section on "Connection".
6. Before starting operation again, purge the panel with the own gas if appropriate (see corresponding
section) on the side of the exchanged cylinder.
7. Open the cylinder valve and the process gas inlet valve.
8. The newly connected cylinder is now ready to use.
5.9 shutting down operations
For short stops in extraction of gas it is sufficient to close the process gas outlet valve (6). Closing the
regulator alone does not guarantee stop of flow, gas can be expelled through the tubing to the consumers
connected. For longer stops, the regulator (3) has to have the pressure released by turning the hand-
wheel anti-clockwise.
Warning! For safety reasons always close the cylinder valve!
When disconnecting a panel for one or more cylinders, pay attention in general:
Danger! Release pressure on regulator and tubes via the consumer. The pointer of the inlet and outlet
pressure gauges must point at "0" exactly.
Danger! The appropriate protection measures are to be taken to protect personnel (breathing
