apparatus, eye protection and protective clothing).
notiCe! Pay attention to maximal working place values (see local rules and legislation), keep the
correct breathing protection filters available.
Warning! When using corrosive or toxic gases, purge all components with inert gas (see section
"Separate gas purging").
shutting down operations a 208/a 209
For short stops in extraction of gas it is sufficient to close the process gas outlet valve (6). For longer
stops, the regulator (3) has to be put in a non operating mode by turning the hand-wheel anti-clockwise.
Warning! For safety reasons always close the cylinder valve!
When dismantling the whole gas supply system, pay attention in general:
Danger! Release pressure on pressure regulator and tubes via the consumer. The pointer of the inlet
and outlet pressure gauges must point at "0" exactly.
6. points of use
6.1 Marking
On the nameplates of the pressure device (refer to figure 2) there are: the type description (type), the
materials of the regulator body/diaphragm seal (mat.), the permissible nominal inlet pressure (p
instrument specific outlet pressure area (p
notice and the type of gas. The serial number of the device is given as device specific identification on a
separate label in bar-code 128 and in plain text.
Caution! Only use equipment whose application purpose corresponds with the type of gas and
operating pressures marked on the nameplate. Otherwise there is danger of injury or danger to life and/
or the danger of the equipment being damaged.
6.2 assembly/Operating the point of
use regulator r 40
With the point of use regulator R 40 you
can set the operating pressure for a certain
consumer. This is done independently of other
consumers connected to the central gas supply
system.
The point of use regulator can be
supplemented by an inlet shut-off valve and/or
an outlet side regulating valve.
Danger! Before starting assembly, de-pressurize the gas supply system. Depending on the type of
gas, remaining gases in the tubes must be removed in a safe manner. Danger of ignition, explosion or
poisoning!
6.2.1 Mounting the point of use regulator
Danger! Check the type of gas and the outlet pressure on the nameplate. Only assemble the point of
use regulator, if the type of gas and the outlet pressure correspond to your requirements!
Mounting onto the wall adapter with g 3/8" male thread
Tools: Fork spanner SW 36. Parts: gasket 14 x 9 x 2 mm.
Put the gasket on the spigot of the wall adapter. Screw the R 40/R 12 by hand onto the thread
connection. Hold the regulator at 45° in front of the required position. Tighten the swivel nut quick
coupling with the fork spanner. Please only use the fork spanner SW 36 which can be obtained as an
accessory. With increasing torque, the regulator is turned as well. Tighten the quick coupling until the
pressure regulator has reached the desired position. Thus you will have a gas tight connection.

6.2.2 Operating the point of use regulator
With the hand-wheel you can infinitely adjust pressure within the adjustment range. Ensure that the
outlet valve is closed. Slowly turn the hand-wheel to the right until the required operating pressure
has been reached. Open the outlet valve. If you extract large volumes of gas, it might be necessary to
readjust the pressure.
