3.3
Danger of fire, danger of explosion
When working with test oil fire and explosion
are a risk.
Safety measures:
¶
Do not smoke.
¶
No naked flames or sparking sources.
¶
Use ISO 4113 test oil only.
¶
Do not use or mix materials such as diesel fuel,
gasoline etc.
¶
To reduce the risk of fire, never operate the EPS 118
in the vicinity of open containers or inflammable
liquids (e.g. gasoline).
3.4
Danger of burning
Danger of burning as a consequence of hot
parts, test oils and surfaces.
Safety measures:
¶
Use protective equipment, e.g. gloves.
¶
Caution must be exercised when handling hot oper-
ating and auxiliary materials (Danger of burning or
scalding).
3.5
Danger of slipping
Danger of slipping and falling through oil or
oil residue on the ground.
Safety measures:
¶
The connections used to supply test oil or lubricat-
ing oil to test accessories or the test specimen are
to be sealed before transporting.
¶
Rectify cause of leakage.
¶
Collect any escaped oil (e.g. test oil, lubricating
oil) immediately using liquid-binding material and
then disposed of in accordance with the applicable
regulations.

3.6
Danger of detonation
Flammable vapors may be generated during
the testing process. Risk of detonation
through sparking or fire.
Safety measures:
¶
Do not smoke.
¶
No naked flames or sparking sources.
¶
The operator must ensure that the work area is
properly ventilated.
3.7
Danger of injury, danger of fire
The test oil jet which escapes at high pres-
sure and at high temperature may cause inju-
ries and burns.
Safety measures:
¶
Wear safety glasses.
¶
Do not reach into the escaping test jet.
¶
Tighten all hydraulic connections before initial startup.
¶
High-pressure hoses (operating pressure greater
than 60 bar) are to be replaced after 2 years (refer
to date of manufacture on high-pressure hose) even
if there are no apparent defects of relevance to
safety.
¶
Replace hydraulic hoses at the specified or at appro-
priate intervals (we recommend every 3 years).
¶
Check lines, hoses and screwed connections reg-
ularly for leakages and externally visible damage.
Rectify all damage immediately.
¶
Route and mount all hydraulic and pressure lines
professionally! Do not mix up connections! The
fittings, length and quality of hose lines must meet
the specifications.
