Power Switch
(POWER)
and Indicator
Press once to turn power on and once again to turn power
off. The indicator above the switch lights when power is on.
FM RF Mode Selector Button (RF MODE) and Indi-
cators
This button changes the antenna input level to match different
reception conditions.
The RF mode is switched between LO-
CAL and DX each time this button is pressed.
This button
should be in the LOCAL position in regions where radio stations
are nearby (signal strength is very high) and in the DX position
in other areas. Use the DX position only when necessary.
(The
setting conditions can be stored in memory.)
APR
ON
Button
(APR OPERATION)
and Indicators
When you have used the APR control function and selected
a setting different from the APR system setting, or after you
have called up a broadcast selection from the memory, this
button is used to return to the APR setting.
After the APR
setting is done, the button is automatically switched OFF.
IF Bandwidth
Selector
Button
(IF BAND)
The {F bandwidth
is automaticaly set to the appropriate point
by the APR System. Use this selector to manually override the
APR selection and switch to the other bandwidth setting if
desired. !f the broadcast is then retuned, the IF bandwidth
will return to the APR setting.
(The setting conditions can
be stored in memory.) The current setting is shown by the APR
system indicators.
Hi-Blend
Selector
Button (HI-BLEND)
The APR system automatically switches the hi-blend circuitry
on and off according to the quality of the signal being received.
Press the hi-blend selector to change the setting to the opposite
of the one selected by the APR system if desired. To return to
the APR setting, press the APR ON button. The current setting
is shown by the APR system indicators [19].

conditions can be stored in the memory.)
Auto Stereo/Mono
Selector Button
(MODE)
The APR system automatically selects the stereo or mono re-
ception mode according to the quality of the signal being re-
ceived. Press the auto stereo/mono selector to change to the
setting opposite the one selected by the APR system. To return
to the APR setting, press the APR ON button. The current
setting is shown by the APR system indicators. Stereo broad-
casts will be heard in stereo only when the stereo indicator
is lit. (Setting conditions can be stored in memory.)

Button
(TUNING
MODE)
and Indicators
The tuning mode is switched between auto and manual each
time this button is pressed.
When the CABLE is turned on by
pressing the CABLE/MUTE
button (10], this tuning mode
button does not function, which means the tuning should be
done manually.

DOWN:
Press to lower the tuned frequency.
UP:
Press to raise the tuned frequency.

Using the Tuning
Selector Buttons (Manual
Mode)
First, select MANUAL
using the tuning mode button[7].
When the UP or DOWN
tuning selector is held down, the
tuned frequency will increase or decrease continuously.
To tune in a station, press either the UP or DOWN tuning
selector until you are near the frequency of the desired
station. Then, after releasing the tuning selector, press again
to change the frequency in single steps until the desired
station is precisely tuned. Pressing once changes the fre-
quency by 50 kHz in the FM band and by 10 (or 9) kHz
in the AM band. When the CABLE button
is ON, the
FM frequency changes by steps of 25 kHz.

Using the Tuning
Selector Buttons (Auto Mode)
First, select AUTO using the tuning mode button [7]. Then
press either the UP or DOWN
tuning selector; there is no
need to keep the selector depressed as in the manual tuning
mode. The tuned frequency will continue to increase or
decrease until a broadcast of sufficient strength is reached.
To move on to the next broadcast, press the UP or DOWN
tuning selector again.
Scanning will not stop for broadcasts weak enough to be
suppressed by the muting circuit. To receive a weak FM
broadcast, tune in the FM broadcast using the manual tuning
mode.
Band Selector Buttons (FM/AM)
Use these buttons to select the FM or AM band before tuning
in a broadcast using the tuning selector buttons
and before
storing a broadcast in the memory. The current band setting
is shown by the FM/AM
indications in the frequency display

FM Tuning Step/Muting
Button
(CABLE/MUTE)
and
Indicator
Press this button to switch the on/off status of muting while
concurrently setting the FM tuning to STANDARD
(50 kHz)
or FINE (25 kHz). The FINE (25 kHz) setting lets you perform
tuning to a finer frequency for receiving a cable broadcast.
Shift Button
(SHIFT) and Indicators
The preset station buttons
can be used to store a total of
40 radio stations. Use this button to switch the preset buttons
between the memory channel 1-20 mode and the memory
channel 21-40 mode.
The setting switches between 1-20 and
21-40 each time this button is pressed and the respective in-
dicator lights. When power is turned on, the setting is the same
as when power was last turned off.
Preset Scan Button
(SCAN)
When this button is pressed, each station in the memory is tuned
in successively for about 5 seconds in order from channel 1
of Side 1-20 to channel 40 of Side 21-40 while the preset
loading
