NOTE:
If any water is in the fuel, the red float in
the fuel filter unit will rise. If so, remove
the cup and drain the water.
1) Lift up and hold the spring 1 to
loosen the filter cup ring nut 2.
2) Remove the filter cup 3, catching any
spilled fuel in a container.
3) Remove the filter element 4, wash it
in solvent, and allow it to dry. Inspect
the filter element, O-ring 5, and float
q
6 to make sure they are in good con-
dition, and replace if necessary. If any
water is found in the fuel, the Yamaha
portable fuel tank or other fuel tanks
should be checked and cleaned.
4) Re-install the filter element in the fil-
ter housing 7 and properly re-insert

the float into the filter cup.
5) Re-insert the O-ring in its proper posi-

tion and re-install the filter cup onto
the filter housing firmly. Lift up and
hold the spring to screw the ring nut

onto the filter housing until the ring is
lightly seated.
6) Tighten the ring nut approximately an

additional 1/4 turn until the ring nut is
tight. Align one of the larger ring nut

tabs with the spring and release it to
lock the ring nut in position.
7) Run the engine and check the filter
and lines for leaks.
