Standby/intelligent purging
CAUTION
Risk of injury if hearing protection is not worn
The gas is released at a very high speed during purging and is
extremely loud.
► Hearing protection must be worn during purging.
CAUTION
Risk of injury and equipment damage as a result of filling with
untested air
When filling cylinders while the Air Guard is in Standby mode,
there is a risk of contaminating the cylinders and of inhaling
contaminated air.
► The air in the pipeline system must not be used or filled
while the Air Guard is in Standby mode.
NOTE
The Standby mode can only be reset by applying the
permissible pressure.
The Air Guard is used for continuous monitoring of the
connected breathing air supply and must be permanently
supplied with breathing air for uninterrupted measurement. If a
continuous breathing air supply is not possible, the "Standby/
intelligent purging" feature should be used to prevent false
alarms. The Standby mode allows the breathing air supply to
be interrupted without causing the Air Guard to switch to
Malfunction mode.
Before a pressure drop the Standby mode must be marked,
either manually or by means of a previously set time schedule.
The device then switches to Standby mode as soon as the
pressure in the pipeline system drops and consequently the
flow rate at the pressure sensor in the Air Guard falls below a
defined value. The red indicator light A2 below the touchscreen
lights up but no audible alarm is triggered. Other alarms are
suppressed during the active Standby mode, however the
associated messages are logged.
In Standby mode, contact (X2 terminals 23 and 24) for
controlling the compressor is closed and contact (X2 terminals
26 and 27) for the external shut-off device is open, to block
filling of breathing air.
If the pressure is once more in the permissible range and,
therefore, also the flow rate at the pressure sensor in the
Air Guard, the Standby mode will be disabled and the
Air Guard automatically purged.
