Game 2: Fingers full of animals!
An amusing fingering & die rolling game for 2 to 6 children ages 4 and older and a game guide.
Learning areas:
Differentiated tactile sensitivity, precise observation, speech and vocabulary building
Game preparation
Choose several figures and look at them with the children. We recommend a maximum of 12
figures, based on the number of children and on the desired level of difficulty. Put the figures
in the cloth bag. The corresponding cards are laid face up in a row on the playing area. Have
the die ready. The rest of the figures, cards and the CD will not be needed and remain in the
game box.
Let's play!
The game proceeds clockwise. The youngest child begins by rolling the die.
What do you see on the die?
• A color
The child looks at the cards to discover which figures have the same color. The child now
tries to find one of these color-corresponding figures by fingering the cloth bag. If all the
correct color-corresponding cards have been played, the child gets a second (and final)
chance to roll the die and finger a figure.
• The star
The child may choose any color and try to finger a matching figure from the cloth bag.
Now the child takes the figure out of the bag.
Does the figure match the color on the die?
• Yes! The child wins the matching card, placing it face up in front of him. The figure goes
back into the bag. The die is passed on to the next child.
• No! The figure goes back into the bag. The child does not win a card, but has the chance
to roll the die (only) once again and try to finger a matching figure from the bag.
Now it is the next child's turn to roll the die.
End of the game
The game ends when there is only one color left in the row of cards. The child who was able
to collect the most cards, wins the game.
Memory variation:
Select 12 figures and put them in the cloth bag. Lay all the corresponding cards face down in
a row on the playing area. The die and CD will not be needed.
The game proceeds clockwise. The child who most recently rode on a train (or the oldest
child) begins. The child takes a figure from the cloth bag and now tries to find the matching
card and turns over the card chosen.
