i
If electronic rim distance and diameter measure-
ment is not possible, wheel data can also be entered
manually.
i
In order to enter rim distance and diameter manu-
ally, follow the procedure described here below.
!
The procedure for distance and for diameter is the
same as for standard programs. The difference is in
measuring the width.
8.4.2
Measuring the Width
With the weights positioning gauge in balancing pro-
grams Alu2, Alu3 and Pax2 it is possible to measure the
width of the rim, easily position and fix the adhesive
weights.

3. Position the weights positioning gauge stop (8) on
the rim edge.
4. Move the outer weight pliers (5) to the position at
which the balance weights are to be attached.

5. Lock the detected measurement by tightening the
thumbscrew (7) and detect the value in position "J"
on the millimetric scale;
6. Using the <-> or <+> key for rim width, enter the de-
tected rim width value in the "mm" unit
"
All the required wheel data have been recorded.

Measuring unbalance
i
A wheel can only be correctly balanced if all the set-
tings correspond to the mounted wheel.
i
The automatic start is activated. In the following
description.
i
Measurement can be interrupted at any time by pres-
sing <STOP>.
1. Close the wheel guard.
 The imbalance measurement starts automati-
cally, if set to start automatically, otherwise press
<START>;
2. On completion of measurement the values of the
balance weights required are shown on the display.
$
left display for internal balancing plane;
$
right display for external balancing plane.
3. Open the wheel protection cap only when the wheel
has completely stopped.
i
If the imbalance measured on the wheel is very high
(e. g. static unbalance exceeding 50 g) it is recom-
mended to perform optimisation procedure through
which the static imbalance of the tyre is balanced
with the static imbalance of the rim (minimisation of
the imbalance, see chap.9).
