Product Description and Intended Use

The SIDNE™ system is an electronic medical device designed to provide
centralized control of the various electronic medical devices found in the
operating room. SIDNE simultaneously connects to multiple electronic devices,
such as medical cameras, powered shavers, and insufflators, via serial or firewire
connection, and provides control and feedback for each device through a central,
remote, touch-screen control.
SIDNE consists of a console with ports for connecting to other electronic
devices, as well as a remote, touch-screen control. The control—typically a tablet
or a Stryker Switchpoint router—provides an interface for operating devices
connected to SIDNE, as well as provides visual feedback for device status.

Indications/Contraindications

SIDNE is indicated for use with compatible endoscopic and general surgery
devices. SIDNE can be used in general laparoscopy, nasopharyngoscopy, ear
endoscopy, sinuscopy, and plastic surgery wherever a laparoscope, endoscope,
or arthroscope is indicated for use. A few examples of the more common
endoscopic surgeries in which SIDNE is used are laparoscopic cholecystectomy,
laparoscopic hernia repair, laparoscopic appendectomy, laparoscopic pelvic
lymph node dissection, laparoscopically assisted hysterectomy, laparoscopic and
thorascopic anterior spinal fusion, anterior cruciate ligament reconstruction,
knee arthroscopy, shoulder arthroscopy, small-joint arthroscopy, decompression
fixation, wedge resection, lung biopsy, pleural biopsy, dorsal sympathectomy,
pleurodesis, internal mammary artery dissection for coronary artery bypass,
coronary artery bypass grafting where endoscopic visualization is indicated,
and examination of the evacuated cardiac chamber during performance of
valve replacement. The users of SIDNE are general surgeons, gynecologists,
cardiac surgeons, thoracic surgeons, plastic surgeons, orthopedic surgeons, ENT
surgeons, and urologists.

Available Models

SIDNE is available in two models: SIDNE Suite and SIDNE Link.
• SIDNE Suite is intended for use with a Stryker iSuite operating room.
It integrates with the Stryker Switchpoint router and is configured with
drivers for controlling overhead surgical lights and cameras. It can be
controlled by a touchscreen tablet or through a Switchpoint router.
• The Link model is intended for use on an operating room cart in
non-iSuite operating rooms. It does not integrate with the Switchpoint
router, overhead cameras, or lights. The Link model can be controlled
by a touchscreen tablet.
