ENGINE START-UP
When starting the engine, follow the instruc-
tions contained in the engine's "Use and
Maintenance" booklet, and after having
made sure that the gear control and PTO con-
trol levers are in idle position, lock Motorstop
lever 1 and clutch lever 2 by using hook C.
This prevents the power transmission of
engine with a gear engaged.
GEAR ENGAGEMENT (Fig. 4)
Motor cultivators type KAM 4-
KAM 5 have a 7 speed gear box
(4 forward and 3 reverse). These
are selected with handle 8 and
lever 10 (Fig. 2).
• Handlebar in tilling position (white symbols
on labels shown in Fig. 5 and 6): with symbol
on lever 10 in the position shown in Fig. 6/1,
the 4 forward gears can be engaged by using
handle 8; with symbol on lever 10 in the po-
sition shown in Fig. 6/2, the 3 reverse gears
can be engaged by using handle 8.
• Handlebar in "front Implements" position
(yellow symbols on labels shown in Fig. 5
and 6): with symbol on lever 10 in the position
shown in Fig. 6/2, the 3 forward gears can
be engaged by using handle 8; with symbol
on lever 10 in the position shown in Fig. 6/1,
the 3 reverse gears can be engaged by using
handle 8.
All models are equipped with a safety device
that prevents the accidental engagement of
the reverse gear when the PTO is already
engaged and vice versa (handlebars in tilling
position).
ATTENTION: To avoid unne-cessary strain
on the controls, make sure
that the PTO is in idle position
before engag- ing the reverse
gear (and vice versa).
N.B.: The engagement of the
gears should always be pre-
ceded by the disengagement of the clutch.
Avoid a protracted clutch disengagement in
order to limit the wear of the thrust bearing.
