7. PROBLEMS, CAUSES AND REMEDIES

TROUBLESHOOTING
Troubleshooting and any repair procedures require compliance with ALL SAFETY PRECAUTIONS
set out in chapter 6 "MAINTENANCE" and 3 "SAFETY."
PROBLEMS
1 - The electric pump does not start
2 - The overload protection trips:
2.1) - Accidentally. ....................
2.2) - Systematically. ...................
3 - The electric pump does not deliver water.
4 - The electric pump delivers a poor flow
rate.
5 - The pump vibrates and it has a noisy ope-
ration.
LIKELY CAUSES
A) - Lack of mains voltage.
B1) - Blown fuses.
- Inadequate fuses
B2) - Motor or power supply cable shor-
ted.
C) - Overload protection previously trip-
ped.
A) - Foreign bodies between the fixed
and rotating parts of the pump.
B) - Lack of a phase on the mains. ....
C) - Incorrect calibration. ..................
D) - Locked rotor. ...............................
E) - Low power supply voltage.
A) - The dynamic level drops below the
foot valve (the leakage of water may be
intermittent).
B) - Impellers or diffusers clogged by sand
or other solids.
C) - Clogged foot valve. ..........
D) - Axis breakage. ......................
E) - The required head is greater than the
maximum head developed by the pump.
A) - The intake is partially clogged.
B) - Mains power supply too low (only for
electric pump)
C) - Worn impellers. ....................
D) - Volumetric water leaks in the pipe
A) - The dynamic level drops below the
intake grid (the leakage of water
may be intermittent).
B) - Water with high air content.
C) - Wear of bearings or bearing without
lubrication.
D) - Foreign bodies between fixed and
rotating parts of the pump.
E) - The unit is not properly secured to
the support surface.
F) - Wear of the axis line guide bushings.

POSSIBLE SOLUTIONS
A) - Provide electrical power supply.
B1) - Replace the fuses with other suitable
ones.
B2) - Repair the motor or replace the cable.
(Call the electrician).
C) - Rearm the protection.
If it trips again, see point 2.2
A) - Clean inside the pump body.
B) - Restore the correct electrical connec-
tion (call the electrician).
C) - Check the calibration amperes.
D) - Check the contacts.
E) - Check the absorption; if very high,
contact the manufacturer.
F) - Request the intervention of the electri-
cian.
A) - Reduce the flow rate by closing the gate
(install level probes).
B) - Send the unit to the manufacturer for
overhauling.
C) - Disassemble the valve body and release.
D) - Send the unit to the manufacturer for
overhauling.
E) - Contact the manufacturer
A) - Lift the unit and clean the outlet and
well.
B) - Request the intervention of the electri-
cian.
C) - Send the unit to the manufacturer for
overhauling.
D) - Extract the unit and check.
E) - Make the axial adjustment of the
pump.
A) - Reduce the flow rate by closing the gate
(install level probes).
B) - Increase the water level on the pump.
C) - Send the unit to the manufacturer for
overhauling.
D) - Clean.
E) - Check support and bolts.
F) - Call the support service to replace gui-
des and bushings.
