2. TECHNICAL SPECIFICATIONS

The vertical axis pumps have been designed and constructed for plants for the wa-
ter supply from wells (mainly agricultural use) or for applications in purification
plants and tanks (application only with electric motor).
Depending on their applications, the pumps can be controlled by Electric motor or
diesel engine or by traction by means of an agricultural tractor.
The vertical pump unit consists of the following components:
1 - Foot valve.
2 - Intake pipe.
3 - Axis line
4 - Pump body
5 - Command unit in the
following versions:
5.1 with flat pulley.
5.2 with groove pulley.
5.3 with electric motor.
5.4 with angle transmission.
5.5 with angle transmission and booster.
Figure 11 shows the main components of a typical pump
1.1 FOOT VALVE (1 - Fig. 11)
The foot valve is required to maintain the riser full of water. The valve is
normally made of cast iron.
A galvanised steel guard prevents the entry of foreign bodies in the inta-
ke inlet.
1.2 AXIS LINE (3 - Fig. 11)
Connects the pump body to the Com-
mand
unit allowing the Impellers to move,
the conveying of the raised liquid and
the positioning of the pump at the re-
quired depth.
It is formed by an internally and exter-
nally coated steel flanged pipe (on re-
quest it can be provided in zinc), inside
which rotates a carbon steel shaft
(stainless steel on request) at the ends
of which is fixed a chromium coated
jacket that is held in the guide by a
rubber bearing blocked within a sup-
port that holds the pipe flanges to-
gether. The shafts of each line are con-
nected by a threaded sleeve.
