OPERATION

Pre-ride Inspection

For your safety, it is very important to take a few
moments before each ride to walk around your
motorcycle and check its condition. If you detect any
problem, be sure you take care of it, or have it
corrected by your Honda dealer.

Improperly maintaining this motorcycle or failing to
correct a problem before riding can cause a crash in
which you can be seriously hurt or killed.
Always perform a pre-ride inspection before every
ride and correct any problems.
1. Engine oil level – add engine oil if required
(page 25). Check for leaks.
2. Fuel level – fill fuel tank when necessary (page 23).
Check for leaks.
3. Front and rear brakes – check operation;
make sure there is no brake fluid leakage
(pages 20 and 21).
4. Tyres – check condition and pressure (pages 26 – 28).
5. Drive chain – check condition and slack (page 55).
Adjust and lubricate if necessary.
6. Chain slider – check slider wear (page 60).
7. Throttle – check for smooth opening and full
closing in all steering positions.
8 Clutch – check operation, and adjust if necessary
(pages 21 and 22).
9. Lights and horn – check the headlight,brake/tail
light, turn signals, indicators and horn for proper
operation.
10. Spark plug and high tension terminal – check for
looseness.
11. Engine stop switch – check for proper function
(page 30).
12. Side stand ignition cut-off system – check for
proper function (page 61).
13. Nuts, bolts, fasteners – check the front wheel to
see that the axle nuts are tightened securely.
Check security of all other nuts, bolts, and
fasteners.
