Do not depress the brake pedal while the wheel is off
the motorcycle. The caliper piston will be forced out of
the cylinder with subsequent loss of brake fluid. If this
occurs, servicing of the brake system will be
necessary. See your Honda dealer for this service.
Installation Notes
• To install the rear wheel, reverse the removal
procedure.
• Make sure that the lug (5) on the swingarm (6) is
located in the slot (7) in the brake caliper holder (8).
• Adjust the drive chain (page 57).
• Tighten the axle nut to specified torque:
88 N·m (9.0 kgf·m, 65 lbf·ft)
When installing the wheel, carefully fit the brake disc
between the brake pads to avoid damaging the pads.
After installing the wheel, apply the brake several
times and then check if the wheel rotates freely.
Recheck the wheel if the brake drags or if the wheel
does not rotate freely.
If a torque wrench was not used for installation, see
your Honda dealer as soon as possible to verify proper
assembly. Improper assembly may lead to loss of
braking capacity.
