General
The USB – Box is connected between the sensor and
the PC. The image data is transferred via the USB – Box
and the USB cable to a standard PC equipped with the
Windows® 98/2000/ME/XP operating system, where it
is then further processed with the SIDEXIS software.

Power supply
The USB – Box is an independent, battery-powered
module with a built-in set of storage batteries. The bat-
teries are charged by the PC via the USB cable, i.e., no
external power supply is required.
An external power supply (optional) can be used if
required. Use of the external power supply virtually pre-
vents the risk of image acquisition failures due to dis-
charged or almost discharged storage batteries.
If an external power supply is used, operation is also
possible when the batteries are discharged or removed
(as of serial no. 2001).
WARNING
For reasons of electrical safety, the USB – Box may
only be operated with the power supply unit supplied
by Sirona.
Charging the storage batteries:
The PC must be switched on when charging the storage
batteries via the USB cable.
The external power supply (optional) can be connected
to quickly charge the batteries. It is not necessary to
switch on the PC to do this.
