Start the pump with the discharge stop valve closed, then open them gradually. The electric pump
should run smoothly and quietly. Close the shut-off valve and check that the pressure reading on the
discharge pressure gauge is close to Hmax on the nameplate (the approximation must be mainly due
to the tolerances and possible suction water pressures). If the pressure read on the pressure gauge is
much lower than Hmax, repeat the filling (air in the pump).
If the two values are close to each other, this means that the pump is working properly and any mal-
functions with the shut-off valve open are almost always due to electrical or mechanical problems of
the motor, or more frequently, to cavitation of the pump due to:
•
Excessive unevenness or excessive head losses in the suction section.
•
Back pressure in discharge section too low.
•
Problems related to the temperature of the liquid.
8.3 STOP
Gradually close the water flow on the pressure side to avoid overpressure in the pipes and pump due
to water hammer.
Disconnect the power supply.
9. MAINTENANCE AND REPAIR
Before carrying out any maintenance work on the electric pump, disconnect the power
supply.
The electric pump does not require routine maintenance. However, it is recommended to check its regu-
lar operation by carrying out periodic checks, the frequency of which will depend on the quantity of liquid
pumped and the operating conditions, paying attention to noise and any abnormal vibrations.
Such checks can give a rough indication of the need for preventive extraordinary maintenance interven-
tions, thus avoiding the need to carry them out after unforeseen inconveniences occur.
