Use
4.1.1 Before sampling
The test person must breathe regularly and calmly before
sampling. The test person must be capable of providing the
minimum breath volume required for sampling.
4.1.2 Preparing for use
1. Make sure a sufficiently charged battery has been
correctly inserted.
2. Make sure a clean mouthpiece has been attached.
4.1.3 Turning on the device
1. Press and hold the button for approx. 1 second.
2. Wait until the display indicates that the device is ready to
take a measurement.
4.1.4 Turning off the device
1. Press and hold the button.
The device turns off after 3 seconds.
The device turns off automatically after 2 minutes of not
being used.
Turning off the device will not reduce the wait time
before the measurement.
4.2
Starting the device for the first time
4.2.1 Standard wizard
A setup wizard appears after turning on the device for the first
time. No setup wizard appears for pre-configured devices.
The following settings are made using the setup wizard:
● Language
● Date format
● Date
● Time format
● Time
● Measurement unit
All settings can be subsequently changed via the menu.
Loss of default settings
If changing the battery takes more than 5 minutes, the date
and time need to be reset. Measurements cannot be
performed if the time has not been set.
4.2.2 Country wizard
A list of countries will appear when the device is turned on for
the first time. After selecting the required country, the country-
specific settings are pre-configured. Settings such as
language or measurement unit are then selected
automatically.
All settings can be subsequently changed via the menu.
4.3
Taking a breath sample
Use a new mouthpiece for every test person.
Do not apply high concentrations of alcohol to the sensor,
e.g. by rinsing the mouth with high-proof alcohol shortly
before taking the measurement. Doing so would reduce the
life span of the sensor.

1. Fit the new mouthpiece (order no. 83 25 250) on the
mouthpiece receptacle (see page 2).
2. Press and hold the button for approx. 1 second until the
startup screen appears.
3. READY is displayed approx. 4 seconds later. The device
is ready to perform a measurement.
4. Blow into the mouthpiece evenly and without interruption.
When doing so, do not block the outlet opening of the
mouthpiece with your hand.
While doing so, a continuous tone will sound.
 After a few seconds (depending on the device
temperature and on the concentration measured), the
measurement result is displayed.
4.4
Carrying out another measurement
1. Briefly press the button to prepare for a new
measurement.
2. Wait until the sensor has recovered (see "Technical data")
✓ READY appears on the display. The device is ready to
perform a measurement.
4.5
Removing the mouthpiece
1. Pull the mouthpiece up and off the mouthpiece receptacle.
2. Dispose of the mouthpiece in compliance with local
regulations.
4.6
Menu control
4.6.1 Displaying the menu
1. Briefly press the button.
The menu is displayed.
If the button is not pressed for 3 seconds, the device
returns to a state of readiness.
2. Briefly press the button again (within 3 seconds).
The menu is displayed.
The menu is left automatically after 30 seconds without
pressing the button.
4.6.2 Navigating the menu
Changing and confirming a feature or entry:
1. Briefly press the button until the preferred setting has
been reached.
When the last entry is reached, the display jumps to the
top again the next time the button is pressed.
2. Press and hold the button for 2 seconds to access the
sub-menu or to confirm the setting.
4.6.3 Exiting the menu
1. In sub-menus, select the Back menu item.
2. In the main menu, select the Measuring menu item.
4.7
Menu items
4.7.1 Measurement results
Displays all saved results with measurement unit, date and
time, as well as sample number.
4.7.2 Next service
Displays the time until adjustment or service is due in days.
