5.2 Tips / recommendations for preparation
EN
We recommend using around 7 g of coff ee grounds to prepare one espresso
FR
(20 to 30 ml). You will need around 14 g of coff ee grounds for two cups or a double
espresso (40 to 60 ml).
ES
The coff ee beans should be very fi nely ground. Use a coff ee grinder which is suitable
for espresso coff ee to grind the beans.
NL
The coff ee grounds must be pressed down fi rmly into the portafi lter basket – i.e. they
must be evenly tamped. Use the tamper to press the coff ee grounds down evenly,
RUS
vertically and fi rmly.
PT
It is important that your appliance, your portafi lter and the cup are correctly heated
before the brewing process begins to ensure that the water does not cool down.
TR
The ideal pressure for espresso preparation is 9 bar. The recommended pressure of
8 to 10 bar is based on a deviation of one bar above or below this fi gure.

5.3 How to prepare espresso (espresso and caff è doppio)
Cups should always be pre-warmed to ensure a perfect espresso. Store your cups upright
on the appliance's cup warming tray. Be careful when you touch the cup warming tray as it
becomes very hot. When grinding your coff ee beans make sure that they are fi nely ground.
If the beans are ground too coarsely, this will result in the espresso having a bitter aroma.

group head. Following this, align the portafi lter to the "
clockwise to the "

Following this, pour away the water and repeat the process again.
8.
Remove the portafi lter by turning it in the opposite direction "
9.
Remove the fi lter basket from the portafi lter by levering it out with a spoon. War-
ning! The portafi lter and basket will be very hot!
10. Dry the basket thoroughly and carefully insert it into the portafi lter.
11. Use the measuring spoon to evenly spread the freshly ground coff ee into the
desired portafi lter basket. We recommend using digital scales to precisely measure
the amount of coff ee grounds, particularly when you fi rst start using the espresso
machine. Use approx. 7 g of coff ee grounds for 1 cup and approx. 14 g for 2 cups (1
heaped measuring spoon = approx. 7 g).
12. Gently tap the portafi lter on the work surface or a tamping mat to spread the coff ee
grounds as evenly as possible, thus ensuring that they are well compacted.
13. Use the tamper to press the coff ee grounds down evenly and vertically. When do-
ing so, pay attention to the "MAX" marking on the portafi lter.
14. Skim off any excess coff ee grounds from the edges of the portafi lter.
