ATTENTION
High-pressure oil leaks can cause serious skin injuries with the
risk of infection. In such cases seek immediate medical attention.
It follows that oleo-dynamic components should not under any
circumstances be installed in the tractor cabin.
All the component parts of the pressurised system should be
carefully installed in order to avoid damage during the use of the
machinery.
There are two types of oleo-dynamic system for the blower
drive:
a) dependent system: connected to the tractor's system.
b) independent system: a system with a self-contained oleo-
dynamic system.
DEPENDENT SYSTEM
Characteristics of the tractor necessary for installation:
-
A sufficient number of distributors on the tractor:
the supply to the blower drive has maximum priority.
-
Tractor oil delivery: the blower drive needs an oil delivery
of about 32 litres per minute; the delivery of the tractor
pump should be at least double that.
-
Oil cooling: if the tractor is not equipped with a large enough
cooling system, it will be necessary: a) to install one; b)
increase the oil reserve by means of a supplementary tank
(ratio: 1:2 between the pump delivery/minute and the oil
reserve).
-
Tractors: check the tractor according to the above
observations. If necessary have any modifications carried out
by the tractor dealer.
-
Oil supply: follow the data of the table in Fig 19.
Working description
The oil flow necessary to drive the blower, is taken from the
tractor distributor, through a pressure tube to a three-way
regulator. The rotational speed of the oleo-dynamic motor, and
therefore that of the blower, is proportional to the flow pressure
shown on the manometer (Table A). The system is equipped
with a safety valve that allows the blower to continue turning
by inertia even after the system has been disengaged or when
there has been a sudden failure of the system.
The return circuit, which can have a radiator incorporated (on
request), must be low pressure (max 10 bar) otherwise the oil-
seal of the oleo-dynamic motor will be damaged. We recommend
that a 3/4 inch return pipe is connected to the tractor's oleo-
dynamic system scavenge union in the following way:
a) The return oil must pass through the filter;
b) The return oil must not pass through the distributors
but through a low-pressure return circuit (scavenge);
for further information contact the manufacturer of the
tractor.
Starting up
With the engine off and the tractor immobilized, connect correctly
all the quick-couplings. Start the engine and operate the system
at idle for a few minutes bringing constant pressure to the entire
circuit in order to avoid instability of the blower. It is possible to
regulate the pressure only when the oil has reached the right
temperature and the blower does not present changes of speed.
If the equipment is used with more than one tractor and,
consequently, different distributors and oils, it will be necessary
to repeat the calibration procedure for each tractor.
In tractors with variable-delivery pumps (closed hydraulic circuit),
fitted with an oil delivery regulator, first open the three-way
regulator (B) completely and, starting with little oil pressure,
open the internal regulator gradually until the pressure required
is reached. This is indicated on the pressure gauge (C).

INDEPENDENT SYSTEM
When the characteristics of the tractor are such that they cannot
guarantee the correct working of the blower, it is necessary to
install a self-contained oleo-dynamic system.
Installation characteristics
-
Oil supply: follow the data in the table in Fig. 20.
Operation description
The multiplier (B) joined to the tractor's power take-off, works
a pump that takes oil from the outside tank to the three-way
regulator. Here, indicated on the manometer, the pressure
required for the motor to work the blower is adjusted (Table A
page 34). Furthermore, the system is equipped with a safety
valve that allows the blower to continue to rotate from inertia
without suffering breakage or damage, if the circulation were
to stop suddenly.
Starting up
With the engine off and the tractor immobilized, connect correctly
the quick-couplings.
Clean and grease the tractor power take-off. (1 Fig. 21).
Connect the multiplier (2) to the machinery power take-off as
shown in figure 21.
Make sure it is correctly coupled, block the rotation of the
multiplier with the chains supplied (3). Check the multiplier
oil level and top up if necessary (ESSO SAE W80-90).
