2. Design and function

2.2 Description

With the calibration system for SF₆ density measuring instruments, model ACS-10,
qualified personnel can recalibrate gas density measuring instruments e.g. in the field,
as part of the receiving inspection or during commissioning of an electrical system. A
recalibration generally refers to a functional check of a leakage detection system.
Model ACS-10 can apply pressure to a leakage detection system by means of the
integrated compressor and then slowly release the pressure. Meanwhile, the switching
EN accuracy, hysteresis and contact resistance of the mechanical switch are measured.
This ensures that the gas density measuring instrument functions properly and meets
the operator's desired requirements.
The model ACS-10 is equipped with an integrated gas storage vessel as well as
a compressor. With these components and high-accuracy sensors for pressure
and temperature measurement, the calibration system can be used as a reference
instrument for a recalibration. Common gas density monitors and gas density switches
with up to five change-over contacts as well as gas density indicators can be subjected
to a functional test.
