the power source for the electronic components must have over
current protection, and a means of disconnection (circuit breaker,
or have the capacity for being unplugged while powered). Such
protection device must be rated as follows:

For all electronic configurations, maximum process fluid and
ambeint temperature should not to exceed 50°C.
The breaking capacity of the fuse-link shall be as high as or
higher than the maximum expected current at the location of
the installation (usually 1500 A).
GENERAL PRODUCT SAFETY INFORMATION
WARNING EXCESSIVE AIR PRESSURE. Can cause personal
injury, pump damage or property damage.
Do not exceed the maximum inlet air pressure as stated on
z
the pump model plate. When the pump is used in a forced-
feed (flooded inlet) situation, a "Check Valve" must be in-
stalled at the air inlet.
Be sure material hoses and other components are able to
z
withstand fluid pressures developed by this pump. Dam-
aged hose could leak flammable liquids and create poten-
tially explosive atmospheres. Check all hoses for damage
or wear. Be certain dispensing device is clean and in proper
working condition.
WARNING MAXIMUM SURFACE TEMPERATURE LIMITS.
Maximum surface temperature depends on the operating
conditions of heated fluid in the pump. Do not exceed max-
imum temperature limits as noted on page PTL-1 / PTL-2.

Ensure proper housekeeping to eliminate dust buildup on
z
the pump. Certain dusts may ignite at pump surface tem-
perature limits, as noted on page PTL-1 / PTL-2.
Maximum temperatures are based on mechanical stress
z
only. Certain chemicals will significantly reduce maximum
safe operating temperature. Consult the chemical manu-
facturer for chemical compatibility and temperature limits.
For ATEX Pumps with electronic interface options, fluid and
z
ambient temperatures not to exceed 500 C. Temperatures
in excess of 500 C invalidate ATEX certification.
WARNING MARKING. ARO excludes marking individual
pumps according to section 11.2 of ISO 80079-36:2016
due to complexity of material & seal combination prod-
uct configurations – Please reference detailed additional
instructional information provided and enclosed as desig-
nated by the "X" in the Atex Directive 2014/34/EC marking.
Example:
II 2GD X – where the X means reading and un-
derstanding all the warning, cautions and additional in-
structions in this manual.
The actual surface temperature of the pumps depend on
z
the running conditions of the pump, the materials of con-
struction, the temperature of the fluid pumped, and the
environmental conditions.
For use in Explosive Gas Atmospheres the TEMPERATURE
z
range rating is limited by the materials & seals used in the
construction per possible product configuration. Mate-
rial temperature limitations are provided and must not be
exceeded in the application. The pumps follow ISO 80079-

Pump exhaust may contain contaminants. Can
WARNING
cause severe injury. Pipe exhaust away from work area and per-
sonnel.
Pipe the exhaust to a safe remote location when pumping
z
hazardous or flammable materials.
In the event of a diaphragm rupture material can be forced
z
out of the air exhaust muffler.
Use a grounded hose between the the pump and the muf-
z
fler. (Refer to minimum size under Installation).
When pumping hazardous or flammable materials, 1/4" di-
z
aphragm pumps must be placed in a containment area or
vessel. The vessel must be vented to a safe remote location.
WARNING LEAKING FLUIDS. Can cause explosion hazards.
Creep of housing and gasket materials can cause fasteners
to loosen, resulting in leakage of flammable liquids and
create potentially explosive atmospheres.
Re-torque all fasteners before operation. Re-torque all fas-
z
teners and pipe fittings to insure against fluid leakage.
Pump damage caused by improper mounting or piping
z
stress and external damage can result in fluid leakage.
WARNING HAZARDOUS PRESSURE. Can result in serious
injury or property damage. Do not service or clean pump,
hoses or dispensing valve while the system is pressurized.
Disconnect air supply line and relieve pressure from the
z
system by opening dispensing valve or device and / or
carefully and slowly loosening and removing outlet hose
or piping from pump.
WARNING EXCESSIVE MATERIAL PRESSURE. Thermal ex-
pansion will occur when fluid in material lines is exposed
to elevated temperatures and will cause a system rupture.
Install a pressure relief valve in the pumping system.
WARNING INJECTION HAZARD. Any material injected into
flesh can cause severe injury or death. If an injection occurs
immediately contact a doctor.
Do not grab front end of dispensing device.
z
Do not aim dispensing device at anyone or any part of the body.
z
WARNING HAZARDOUS MATERIALS. Can cause serious in-
jury or property damage. Do not attempt to return a pump
to the factory or service center that contains hazardous
material. Safe handling practices must comply with local
and national laws and safety code requirements.
