GENERAL
These welders are composed of a monophase transformer
with a drooping characteristic, and are suitable for welding
in alternate current using stick electrodes (type E 43R).
Welding current may be regulated with continuity, using a
manual magnetic shunt (1).
The value of the current (I ) may be read on the Amp.
graduated scale (2) on the upper panel, and corresponds to
the voltage of the arc (U ) according to the equation:
2
U = (18 + 0,04 I ) V (EN 50060).

TECHNICAL DAT A
Technical data relative to the performance of the machine
may be found on a plate (back panel) with the following
symbols, whose meaning is explained below.
EN 50060 European Standard relativeto welders for
limited duty
1-
EUROPEAN Norm of reference, for safety and
construction of arc welding machines.
2-
Symbol for internal machine structure: inverter
transformer .
3-
Symbol for welding procedure provided: manual arc
welding with covered electrode.
4-
Symbol for power supply line: monophase alternating
voltage.
5-
Protection rating of casing: IP21 or IP22: it is protected
against solid foreign bodies of diam. 12.5mm (e.g.
fingers) and against drops of water falling vertically
(IP21) or with an inclination to the vertical of up to 15°
(Ip22).
6-
Performance of welding circuit:
- U0: no-load voltage (welding circuit open).
- I2: Normal welding current; indicates the welding
current adjustment range (minimum - maximum) at the
corresponding arc voltage.
- Ø: diameter of electrodes that can be welded.
- nc is the reference number of electrodes that can be
welded, starting with the welding machine at ambient
temperature, until the thermostat cuts in for the first
time.
- nc1 is the reference number of electrodes that can be
welded in one hour starting with the welding machine at
ambient temperature.
- nh is the AVERAGE VALUE for reference number of
electrodes that can be welded between thermostat
reset and cut in.
- nh1 is the reference number of electrodes that can be
welded in one hour starting with the welding machine at
running temperature.
7-
Specifications for the power line:
- U1: Alternating voltage and power supply frequency
for the machine (allowed limits ±15%)
-
: Size of delayed action fuses to be provided
to protect the line
- I1max: Maximum current absorbed by the line
8-
H
: transformer insulation class

Manufacturer's serial number. Machine identification
(indispensable for technical assistance, requesting
spare parts, discovering product origin).
Note: The plate example given shows the meaning
of the symbols and figures; the exact rating values
for the machine in your possession should be read
directly on the rating plate of the machine it self.

THERMOSTATIC PROTECTION
This welder is automatically protected from thermic
overheating (thermostat automatic re-start). When the
windings reach performance temperature, the protections
cut off the supply circuit, igniting the yellow lamp on the front
panel (3). After a few minutes' cooling the protection will
reopen the supply line and turn off the yellow lamp. The
welder is ready for further use.
INSTALLATION
SITE
Locate the machine in an area where openings for cooling
air are not obstructed (forced circulation with fan); check that
conductive dusts, corrosive vapours, humidity etc., will not
enter machine.
CONNECTION TO MAINS
-
Before making any electrical connection check that the
mains voltage ratings of the data table correspond with the
voltage of the workplace. The machine is to be fed with two
conductors (2 phases or phase-neutral) plus a third
separate one designed for the protective earth connection
(PE); this conductor is coloured yellow/green.
For welders with double voltage supply, it is necessary to set
the blocking screw of the voltage-reverse switch in the
position corre sponding to the voltage really available (see
example below).

WARNING
Failure to observe the above rules will make ineffective
the safety system installed by the manufacturer (Class
1) with resulting risks for persons (eg. electric shock)
and objects (eg. fires).
REPLACING THE POWER SUPPLY CABLE
THIS OPERATION MUST BE CARRIED OUT BY
SKILLED PERSONNEL!
Before replacing the cable, find the screw connection
terminals
L1 and L2 on the rocker switch and/or rotary switch. (Fig - D)
CONNECTION OF THE WELDING CABLES
- WORK CABLE
This must be directly connected to the workpiece or the
work bench. WARNING!: make sure contact to
workpiece is adequate by avoiding varnished surfaces
and/or non-metallic materials.
N.B.: For welders with clamp this cable must be connected
to the clamp with this symbol:
- COLLET CABLE
This has a special clamp on the terminal to attach to the
