WARNINGS
• CAUTION! – Important safety instructions:
– follow these instructions since an incorrect installation may
cause serious injury;
– it is important to follow these instructions to ensure the safety
of people;
– keep these instructions.
■ The NEOMAT-A series motors, versions NEOMAT-SA Ø35mm, NEO-
MAT-MA Ø45mm and NEOMAT-LA Ø58mm, have been designed for
the automation of rolling shutters and awnings; any other use is consid-
ered improper and is prohibited. ■ These motors are intended for resi-
dential use. Maximum continuous operating time is 4 minutes. ■ When
selecting the motor based on the application requirements, the nominal
torque and operating time shown in the rating plate must be considered.
The minimum diameter of the tube on which the motor can be installed
is 40mm for NEOMAT-SA, 52mm for NEOMAT-MA with torque up to
35Nm, 60mm for NEOMAT-MA with torque over 35 Nm and 70 mm for
NEOMAT-LA. ■ All the product installation, collection, programming and
maintenance operations must be carried out exclusively by a skilled and
qualified technician, in observance of local laws, standards, regulations
and the instructions in this manual. ■ All product installation and mainte-
nance operations must be performed with the automation disconnected
from the power mains. As a precaution, affix a notice with the text
"WARNING: MAINTENANCE IN PROGRESS" on the disconnect device.
■ Before starting installation procedures, move away all electric cables
not in volved in the work and deactivate all mechanisms not required for
motor-driven operation of the shutter. ■ If the product is installed at a
height of less than 2.5 m from the floor or other support surface, the
moving parts must be protected with a suitable covering, to avoid inad-
vertent access. For protection, refer to the instruction manual of the
shutter, ensuring that future access for maintenance purposes is guar-
anteed. ■ On sun awnings, a minimum horizontal distance of 40 cm
must be guaranteed between the awning completely open and any fixed
object positioned in front. ■ For outdoor installation it is necessary to use
the specific product fitted with the suitable electric cable. Request this
product from the authorised dealer. ■ If the power supply cord is dam-
aged, the product can not be used as it may be dangerous. To solve the
problem, contact the Nice Service Centre. ■ During installation, handle
the product with care, avoiding the risk of crushing, impact, dropping or
contact with any type of liquid, do not insert sharp objects in the motor,
do not drill or insert screws on the motor exterior and do not place the
product in the vicinity of heat sources or naked flames (fig. 1). ■ To con-
trol the product, use exclusively hold-to-run type pushbuttons, i.e. which
must remain pressed for the entire manoeuvre. ■ Do not use multiple
reverser switches for the same motor nor command multiple motors
using the same reverser switch (fig. 1). If necessary, use the special Nice
accessory "TTE". ■ Position the pushbuttons in sight of the shutter but
far from moving parts. Position the pushbuttons to the side of the shut-
ter, in the location of the power cables routed from the tubular motor and
the electric mains. Position the buttons at a height of at least 1.5 m from
the floor. ■ When performing a manoeuvre, keep a check on the
automation and keep all people at safety distance until the movement
has been complete. ■ When cleaning windows in the vicinity of the
automation, do not activate any control devices and if the latter are auto-
matic, disconnect the power supply. ■ The product should not be used
by children or people with impaired physical, sensorial or mental capaci-
ties. ■ Do not allow children to play with the device and the fixed control
devices. Keep remote control devices out of reach of children. ■
Remember to frequently check the balance springs and wear and tear of
cords (if such mechanisms are present). Do not use the product if it
needs to be adjusted or repaired; only contact specialised technical per-
sonnel to solve these problems. ■ The product packaging material must
be disposed of in full observance of current local legislation governing
waste disposal.
CAUTION!
• If the slope of the awning is less than 25% or less than the value
recommended by the manufacturer it should be retracted to
avoid water pockets when it rains.
• The rolling shutter could be damaged if used when ice has
formed.
1
• Some of the programming phases can use the mechanical
stops of the roller shutter (caps and/or burglar-proof springs).
In this case it is necessary to select a motor with a torque that is
suitable for the application taking into consideration the effec-
tive stress and avoiding excessively powerful motors.
1) Product description
The NEOMAT-A series motors, versions NEOMAT-SA Ø35mm, NEO-
MAT-MA Ø45mm and NEOMAT-LA Ø58mm, are electric motors
equipped with RPM reduction and terminating at one end with a shaft on
which the driving wheels can be mounted; see figure 2. The motor must
be fitted inside the winding tube, where it can raise or lower the roller
shutter or awning.
The control unit incorporated in the motor also has a high precision elec-
tronic limit switch system that can constantly detect the position of the
rolling shutter.
The movement limits, roller shutter or awning open and roller shutter or
awning closed (as well as intermediate positions), can be programmed
and the awning automatically stops when these positions are reached.
The NEOMAT-A series motors incorporate a radio receiver operating at
a frequency of 433.92 MHz, with rolling code technology that guaran-
tees high levels of security. It is possible to memorize up to 14 transmit-
ters for each motor in the ERGO, PLANO and NICEWAY series; see fig-
ure 3; that allow the remote control of the motors, or 3 wind and sun
radio sensors "VOLO-S-RADIO" which control the motor depending on
the weather conditions.
The programming of the limit switches and additional functions can be
done directly from the transmitters, with beeps that sound to guide users
through the various phases. It is also possible to control the motors via
an external button (using the Step-by-Step function) or "TTBUS" Bus. A
F210S photocell, which detects the presence of possible obstacles pre-
venting the lowering manoeuvre, can be connected on the TTBUS as an
alternative to the Step-by-Step button. For more details, see the F210S
photocell instructions (on NEOMAT-MA and NEOMAT-LA only).
Optional wind, sun and rain sensors can be connected to the weather
sensors input that automatically activate the motor when the weather
conditions require.
The input of the sensors can also be used (as an alternative to the
weather sensors) to connect an 8.2KΩ constant resistance sensitive
edge in order to guarantee the safe operation of the automation when
required.
2) Installation
Caution! – Incorrect installation may cause serious injury
Consult the Nice product catalogue (which may also be downloaded
from www.niceforyou.com) to choose the accessories that are compati-
ble with this motor. Proceed as follows to prepare the motor:
1. Position the limit switch crown (E) on the motor (A) until it fits into the
corresponding limit switch ring (F); make sure that the two grooves
match. Push it into position as shown in Fig. 5.
2. Mount the drive wheel (D) on the motor shaft.
On NEOMAT-SA the drive wheel (D) snaps on automatically.
3. On NEOMAT-MA fasten the drive wheel with the snap ring. On NEO-
MAT-LA fasten the drive wheel with the M12 nut and washer.
4. Fit the assembled motor into the winding roller until the crown (E) is
fully inserted. Fasten the drive wheel (D) to the winding roller using the
M4x10 screw, so as to prevent the motor from slipping or sliding axi-
ally (fig. 6).
5. Finally, secure the motor head to the special support (C) with the
spacer (if any), using the clips or split pin (B).
