*
Conversion from ventricular fibrillation – the most common cause of sudden cardiac arrest – to a non-shockable
rhythm.
**
When the defibrillator detects a non-shockable rhythm, it instructs the user to care for the patient and provide
CPR if needed.

USING THE TRAINING PADS SCENARIOS

There are eight training scenarios available when using the training pads. They
are described in the following table.
• defibrillator detects a shockable rhythm, tells user to deliver a shock
• defibrillator detects a non-shockable rhythm**
• defibrillator detects a shockable rhythm, tells user to deliver a shock (repeated
until an entire shock series is delivered)
• defibrillator provides pause for CPR
• defibrillator detects a shockable rhythm, tells user to deliver a shock
• defibrillator detects a non-shockable rhythm
• defibrillator detects poor pad contact, repeats pads placement instructions
• after one pad is removed and reapplied, defibrillator detects a shockable rhythm,
tells user to deliver a shock
• defibrillator detects a non-shockable rhythm
• defibrillator detects a shockable rhythm, tells user to deliver a shock
• defibrillator detects a non-shockable rhythm
• defibrillator detects refibrillation (return to a shockable rhythm), tells user to
deliver a shock
• defibrillator detects a non-shockable rhythm
• defibrillator detects a non-shockable rhythm throughout
• defibrillator detects a shockable rhythm, tells user to deliver a shock
• defibrillator still detects a shockable rhythm, tells user to deliver another shock
• defibrillator detects a non-shockable rhythm
• defibrillator detects a shockable rhythm, tells user to deliver a shock
• defibrillator still detects a shockable rhythm, tells user to deliver another shock
• defibrillator detects a non-shockable rhythm
• defibrillator detects refibrillation (return to a shockable rhythm), tells user to
deliver a shock
• defibrillator detects a non-shockable rhythm
• defibrillator detects poor pad contact, repeats pads placement instructions
• after one pad is removed and reapplied, defibrillator detects a shockable rhythm,
tells user to deliver a shock
• defibrillator still detects a shockable rhythm, tells user to deliver another shock
• defibrillator detects a non-shockable rhythm
