3.5.14 In MMA mode the welding quality is not satisfactory

To assist the start of welding, a "Hot-Start" function available in both TIG and MMA
modes is adjustable from the panel (see Instruction Manual). In MMA mode, if it is
difficult to strike the right balance between welding with multiple projections or with an
electrode that cannot melt the metal, the arc-force function automatically modulates the
welding current in proportion to arc voltage to speed up weld droplet detachment. This
function is also adjustable from the control panel (see Instruction Manual).
If it is difficult to strike an arc or weld despite careful setting of the parameters available
on the control panel, it is advisable to:
-
check that the parameters set reflect the actual current welding needs;

ensure that the power source is operating correctly by performing a no-load test
if necessary,
-
check the adjustments are working properly by performing some welding tests
using different parameter settings. If despite the variations there is no change to
the welding or if there is a problem selecting the parameters, check the wiring
between the panel board (70) and the microswitch board (37) and, if necessary,
replace them;
-
check the compatibility and wear and tear on elements being used (electrode
clamp, electrodes, electrode type, earth cables, gas type in the case of TIG
mode, etc.) according to the type of welding being carried out;
-
check for wear on the torch (in TIG mode) or electrode clamp and its
components, and replace if necessary.

3.5.15 The cooling unit is not working properly (option)

When the power source is turned on, microswitch board (37) checks that the cooling
unit is connected using the signal provided by the jumper between terminals 1 and 2 of
the connector (9) located on the cooling unit. (Fig. 3.5.15.C)). With connector (9)
disconnected, or the jumper open, the cooling unit is disabled and the cooling unit
cannot be selected from the control panel. In the MMA process, operation of the cooling
unit is kept disabled.
