Descending- and Rescue-Device with Lifting Function

GENERAL:
The device is used for the rescue of persons from higher elevations or from deep working
spaces. The use is limited to persons which are of good health and have been instructed to use the
device safely and have acquired the knowledge to rescue persons.
In order to rescue persons in case of a fall from height or suffering from other accidents as fast
as possible, there has to be an emergency rescue plan considering and preparing for all possible
emergency situations, which can be applied while using the device.
The rescue device is not a fall arrester!
1. BEFORE USING THE DEVICE:
Prior each application the user has to make sure the device is in a flawless condition and the full
functionality of the device is given. Therefore the device itself and the rope including all other
components have to be reviewed carefully.
It has to be ensured that:
the descending rope is free from damages of any kind and is running free within the

device in both directions
the end fittings are in good condition
•
all carabiners are free of damage
•
all screws are fixed
•
the device is free of damages like cracks or deformations
•
the attachment is free of damages
•
the device is not polluted by chemicals, lubricants or others
•
there did not fall parts or dirt inside the device
•
there are no other unnormal things
•
While checking the user has to hang the device somewhere and pull 1 or 2 meters
rope out of the device. The rope must slide out smoothly limited, not fitfull and without
mechanical sound.
This review may be omitted only if the device is part of an emergency set which was
inspected by an instructed person before and stored safely in a closed container.
If there is any doubt in regard on the condition of the device it has to be taken to rechecking and it
is not allowed to use before that recheck is ensuring full safety again. Devices which fail inspection
have to be marked clearly to avoid that they are going to be used.
