(N) Abseil rope
protrudes from
exit point
If manual speed control is not required, do not insert the rope; the device controls the ascent
speed automatically. Always fit the rope into the guide when using the device to ascend and then
continue travelling.
If the device is used to ascend and locks automatically, first deactivate the lock before abseiling:
Looking at the device, deactivate the RIGHT-HAND ratchet (lift ratchet slightly, extend switch lever,
direct ratchet downwards and allow to hang).
Using the right hand, insert the free end of the rope into the rope guide as shown in Figures N-Q.
Now use the LEFT ratchet to release the free-wheel mechanism and gently lift the load.
The free-wheel mechanism unlocks with a slight click.
The ratchet is kept under tension so that the free-wheel button (M) on the device is placed in the
DOWN position (the lock is immediately deactivated).
Use your right hand to keep the rope end taut and release the LEFT ratchet again.
Rope friction and traction force now support the load.
Lastly, deactivate the LEFT ratchet by extending the switch lever and directing the ratchet down-
wards. Alternatively, the ratchet can be directed upwards and to the other side of the housing
via the emergency release mechanism. Push the ratchet switch lever outwards to deactivate the
ratchet.
Rope deflection (Figures N-Q) can be used to control the ascent speed safely by hand.
Always fit the rope into the guide when using the device to ascend and then continue travelling.
NOTE:
In the case of free travel always ensure that the rope is undamaged
and cannot be pulled into the rope clamp. A sudden stop can damage
the rope.
