OPERATION

Pre-ride Inspection

For your safety, it is very important to take a few
moments before each ride to walk around your
motorcycle and check its condition. If you detect any
problem, be sure you take care of it, or have it
corrected by your Honda dealer.

Improperly maintaining this motorcycle or failing to
correct a problem before riding can cause a crash in
which you can be seriously hurt or killed.
Always perform a pre-ride inspection before every
ride and correct any problems.
1. Engine oil level – add engine oil if required
(page 24). Check for leaks.
2. Fuel level – fill fuel tank when necessary
(page 23). Check for leaks.
3. Front and rear brakes – check operation; make
sure there is no brake fluid leakage. Adjust free
play if necessary (pages 19 and 20).
4. Tyres – check condition and pressure (pages 25
and 26).
5. Drive chain – check condition and slack (page 51).
Adjust and lubricate if necessary.
6. Throttle – check for smooth opening and full
closing in all steering positions.
7. Battery electrolyte – check level and refill if
necessary. Add only distilled water (page 62).
8. Lights and horn – check that headlight, position
light, tail/brake light, turn signals, indicators and
horn function properly.
9. Engine stop switch – check for proper function
(page 29).
10. Side stand – check operation and rubber pad wear
(page 55).
