Clean and disinfect the surfaces of the unit, Power Cord,
Foot
Switch
Cord,
(See Section IV. B. 6).
3.
Flush the water supply lines thoroughly (See Section III. B. 1-4).
4.
Clean, disinfect, sterilize and inspect tips before each use (See
Section IV. B. 4).
B. At the end of each day
1.
All BioSonic
Piezo Scaler Tips, Endo Tips, Tip Wrench, and
®
Endo Wrench can be cleaned with Coltène/Whaledent's
BioSonic
Ultrasonic Cleaners as a first step in the sterilization
®
process.
2.
Detach the Handpiece, remove the Piezo Tip from the
Handpiece, clean and sterilize accordingly.
3.
Make sure the water is removed from the Handpiece with
compressed air before sterilization.
4.
The Handpiece as well as the Piezo Tips, Endo Tips, Tip
Wrench and Endo Wrench can be autoclaved at 132°C/2.2bar
(0.22MPa).
Note: Ensure that the Handpiece is completely disassembled
before autoclaving.
5.
Allow the components to cool to room temperature before
using again.
6.
Clean and disinfect the unit and peripherals before use on
each patient. Clean components by wiping with a soft cloth
moistened with a commercially available mineral deposit
remover followed by an intermediate level disinfectant.
Do not use petroleum based solvents, iodophors,or
phenolic based products to clean components.
(Iodophors and phenolics can stain the surface of
the unit.) Clean up all liquid spills immediately.
CAUTION!
7.
Flush the water lines thoroughly at the end of the day
(See Section III. B. 1-4).
8.
Close the main shut-off valve from the dental water supply
and turn the power off.
C. Water Filter Maintenance – The stainless steel filter on
the water line assembly should be cleaned periodically to
preventrestricted water flow.
1.
Unscrew water filter housing and wash stainless steel filter in
warm water.
2.
Re-assemble water filter housing.

• Maximum relative humidity: 80% for temperatures up to 31°C,
decreasing linearly to 50% relative humidity at 40°C.

• Degree of safety in the presence of a flammable anesthetic
mixture with air, oxygen, or nitrous oxide: Not suitable.

Ultrasonic instruments are subject to breakage at
any time. To avoid patient injury do NOT use tips
that are bent, altered or worn more than 2 mm.
During the procedure avoid applying too much
force or operating at an excessive power setting.

Do not use the BioSonic

Scaler without water.
Avoid touching the metal working tip of an
activated BioSonic
S1 Piezo Ultrasonic Scaler
®
with bare hands, lips, gums, or tongue as it may
cause minor burns.
Do not use the ultrasonic scaler for dental
procedures
involving
the
amalgam.
To assure optimum performance, use only
BioSonic
Piezo Tips.
®
This equipment generates, uses and can radiate
radio frequency energy. If not installed and used
in accordance with the instruction manual, it
may cause interference to radio communications.
Operation of this equipment in a manner
inconsistent with the manual is likely to cause
interference in which case the user, at his/her
own expense, will be required to take whatever
measures may be required to correct the
interference.
Interference may occur in the vicinity of equipment
marked with the following symbol:
Persons fitted with cardiac pacemakers have
been cautioned that some types of electronic
equipment might interfere with the operation
of a pacemaker.
Although no instance of
pacemaker interference relating to a BioSonic
S1 Piezo Ultrasonic Scaler has ever been reported
to Coltène/Whaledent Inc., we recommend
that the Handpiece and cables be kept at least
15.24 – 22.86 cm away from any pacemaker or
pacemaker leads during use. If use of this product
is in question, consult the patient's cardiologist.
This device should not be used on patients with
hemophilia, without the advice of the patient's
physician.
Extreme caution is required when using this device
around patients with heart disease, pregnant
women, or small children.
Do not restrict air flow.
