Connect probe of flowmeter, country-specific (A),
(F), (G) or (H), or probe of supply hose (J) to ter-
minal unit (E).

Functional test

 Open hand wheel by turning it counterclockwise.
The ball in the flow tube must rise evenly.
 Read flow at upper rim of ball.

Operation

WARNING
Risk of malfunction
Obstructions, damage, and foreign matter can
lead to malfunction.
Check all system components for obstructions,
damage, and foreign matter before installation.
WARNING
Risk of breakage
Check the medical device before use, particu-
larly for cracks in the pressure dome. Unscrew
the depressurized pressure dome and check
the thread for irregularities and cracks at regu-
lar intervals (at least once a year). Do not use
the medical device if it is damaged.
WARNING
Use the medical device only within the operat-
ing pressure range specified on the flow tube
and within the specified environmental condi-
tions. Observe section "Technical data". Other-
wise, the set flow and the actual flow do not cor-
respond.
Do not expose flowmeter to direct sunlight.
Instructions for use Flowmeter
 Set the flow necessary for the patient on the de-
vice (A).
 Application and delivery only according to physi-
cian's instructions.
 SpO
monitoring is recommended.

Operation in magnetic fields

Due to the very small amount of ferromagnetic mate-
rial they contain, the flowmeters can be used in mag-
netic fields, i.e., in the vicinity of magnetic resonance
imaging systems.
When using, do not exceed the 20 mT line.

Measured value

The measured value refers to an ambient tempera-
ture of 20 °C (68 °F) and an ambient pressure of
1013 hPa.
To convert this value to the flow at ambient condi-
tions 2
proceed as follows (gas equation):
,
2 = 1 x T2 x p1
p2 x T1
1 = Flow displayed in L/min (at 1013 hPa and
20 °C/68 °F)
2 = Flow rate at
p2 = Ambient pressure (hPa)
A
t2 = Ambient temperature (°C/°F)
p1 = Reference ambient pressure 1013 hPa
t1 = Reference temperature 20 °C (68 °F)
T
= t
+ 273 °C (523.4 °F)

Example:
Displayed value 10 L/min, temperature 24 °C, ambi-
ent pressure 960 hPa
2 =
10 L/min x (24 °C + 273 °C) x 1013 hPa
960 hPa x (20 °C + 273 °C)
2 = 10.7 L/min (at 960 hPa and 24 °C)

Shut down

1
Close the hand wheel by turning it clockwise.
NOTE
Use only slight pressure when closing the hand
wheel, otherwise the seal may be damaged.
2
Remove accessories.
3
Remove rail flowmeter from the rail by pressing
the toggle.
