– Wear suitable clothing. Never wear loose clothing or jewellery. Keep hair,
clothing and gloves away from moving parts. Loose clothing, jewellery or long
hair can get caught in moving parts.
– If dust extraction and collection devices can be fitted, make sure that they are
connected and used correctly. Using dust extraction equipment can reduce
hazards posed by dust.
General safety information for power tools – using and handling the power
tool
– Do not force the device. Use the correct power tool for your task. You will be
able to do the work better and more safely when using the correct power
tool, in compliance with its rating.
– Do not use a power tool with a defective switch. A power tool that cannot be
switched on or off is dangerous and must be repaired.
– Disconnect the mains plug from the mains socket and/or remove the battery
before making device settings, changing accessories or putting the device
away. This precautionary measure prevents the power tool from being started
accidentally.
– When not in use, store power tools out of reach of children. Do not allow per-
sons to use the tool who are not familiar with it or who have not read these
instructions. Power tools are dangerous if used by inexperienced persons.
– Maintain power tools with great care. Check that moving parts are working
properly and no binding occurs; check for parts that are broken or damaged
such that the function of the power tool is affected. Have damaged parts re-
paired before using the device. Many accidents are the result of poorly main-
tained power tools.
– Keep cutting tools sharp and clean. Diligently maintained cutting tools with
sharp cutting edges are less likely to bind and easier to control.
– Use power tools, accessories, attachments etc. in accordance with these in-
structions. Take the work conditions and the task to be performed into ac-
count. Using power tools for applications other than the intended use can
result in hazardous situations.
General safety information for power tools – servicing
– Have your power tool repaired only by qualified specialists, using only original
replacement parts. This ensures the power tool remains safe to use.
SAFETY INFORMATION FOR ANGLE GRINDERS
– Apart from these machine-specific safety instructions, also observe the
safety instructions for the angle grinder used.
– Always be aware that the workpiece may unexpectedly get out of control dur-
ing cutting and be kicked back.
– Only use diamond cutting discs compliant with DIN EN-13236.
– Keep your hands away from the grinding tool while cutting.
– Ensure that the dust extraction hood is properly fitted to the angle grinder
and that all screws/handle screws are tightened.
– Do not make any alterations or modifications to this product.
– Do not use any accessories that have not been specifically designed and re-
commended by the manufacturer for this power tool. Just because you can at-
tach the accessory to your power tool does not guarantee safe use.
– The permissible speed of the accessory must be at least as high as the max-
imum speed specified on the power tool. Accessories that rotate faster than
permitted may break and fly around.
– The outer diameter and thickness of the accessory must correspond to the di-
mensions of your power tool. Incorrectly dimensioned accessories cannot be
adequately shielded or controlled.
– Do not use damaged accessories. Before each use, check accessories such as
sanding discs for chipping and cracks, sanding discs for cracks, wear or heavy
abrasion, and wire brushes for loose or broken wires. If the power tool or the
accessory falls, check whether it is damaged or use an undamaged accessory.
Once you have checked and inserted the accessory, keep yourself and anyone
in the vicinity out of the plane of the rotating accessory and allow the device
to run at maximum speed for 1 minute. Damaged accessories usually break
during this test time.
– Wear personal protective equipment. Depending on the application, use full
face protection, eye protection or safety goggles. Where appropriate, wear a
dust mask, hearing protection, protective gloves or a special apron to keep
small grinding and material particles away from you. Eyes should be protec-
ted from flying debris generated during various applications. Dust masks or
respirators must filter the dust produced during use. If you are exposed to
loud noise for a long time, you may suffer hearing loss.
– Keep a safe distance from other people in your work area. All persons enter-
ing the work area must wear personal protective equipment. Fragments of the
workpiece or broken accessories can fly off and cause injuries even outside
the direct working area.
– Only hold the power tool by the insulated gripping surfaces when carrying out
work where there is risk of the accessory coming into contact with concealed
power lines or its own power cable. Contact with a live cable can also ener-
gise metal parts of the device and cause an electric shock.
– Keep the mains cable away from rotating accessories. If you lose control of
the device, the power cable may be cut or caught and your hand or arm may
be caught in the rotating accessory.
– Never put the power tool down before the accessory has come to a complete
standstill. There is risk of the rotating accessory coming into contact with the
support surface, causing you to lose control of the power tool.
– Do not leave the power tool running while you are carrying it. Your clothing
can be caught by accidental contact with the rotating insert tool and the ac-
cessory can drill into your body.
– Regularly clean the ventilation slots of your power tool. The motor fan draws
dust into the housing and a large accumulation of metal dust can cause elec-
trical hazards.
– Do not use the power tool near flammable materials. Sparks can ignite these
materials.
– Do not use tools that require liquid coolant. The use of water or other liquid
coolants can cause an electric shock.
KICKBACK AND CORRESPONDING SAFETY INFORMATION
Kickback is the sudden reaction caused by a snagging or jamming rotating access-
ory, such as a grinding wheel, sanding disc, wire brush, etc. Snagging or jamming
results in an abrupt stop of the rotating accessory, leading to an uncontrolled
power tool being thrust in the opposite direction of the accessory's rotation at the
jammed point. For instance, if a grinding wheel snags or jams in the workpiece, the
edge of the wheel that digs into the material can catch, causing the wheel to break
off or induce kickback. The wheel then moves towards or away from the operator,
depending on the direction of the wheel's rotation at the jammed point. This can
also cause the wheel to break. Kickback is the result of incorrect or improper use of
the power tool. It can be prevented by taking appropriate precautions, as described
below.
– Hold the power tool firmly and bring your body and arms into a position
where you can absorb the kickback forces. Always use the additional handle,
if equipped, to maintain maximum control over kickback or torque reactions
during startup. The user can control kickback and reaction forces by taking
appropriate precautions.
– Never place your hand near rotating accessories. The accessory may move
over your hand in the event of a kickback.
– Avoid positioning your body in the path the power tool would take if kickback
occurs. Kickback propels the power tool in the direction opposite to the grind-
ing wheel's motion at the jammed point.
– Be particularly cautious around corners, sharp edges, etc. Prevent accessories
from bouncing off the workpiece and getting jammed. Rotating accessories
are prone to snag when encountering corners, sharp edges, or if they re-
bound. This causes loss of control or kickback.
