phases + neutral + earth must be in place - grounding is an indispensable condition
also for single-phase machines.
• Supply lines, control panels and machines must be protected against direct and indi-
rect electrical contacts, against overloads and overcurrents, in compliance with C.E.I.
64-8 regulations concerning I class appliances (I.E.C. correspondents available on
request).
• It is advisable to protect the feeding line against extra-current.
• Protect electrical control panels and machines from accidental sprinkles.
• Provide a fl oor liquid-drainage connected to the sewage system.
• Keep the technical room clear of anything that is not related to the machines herein
contained, taking special attention of fl ammable materials; make sure that there is no
risk of corrosive, fl ammable or explosive mixes.
Piping layout
(Fig. 6 and 7, page 76)
The diameter of the main duct or collecting pipe (A) must be proportionate to the fl ow
of the aspiration unit.
Branches (B) from the surgeries will be connected to the main duct by means of 45°
connections (C) bent towards the surgeries. Where necessary, inspection holes (D)
should be included in the plan to allow for inspection inside aspiration piping.
As a rule, the location of the piping must comply with the laws of physics on the
dynamics of fl uids into a pipe.
A slope of the piping towards the pump will facilitate its functioning, pipe on the
same level will give no problems, but counter-slopes compromise functioning
proportionately to the gradient of the slopes.
In liquid and semi-wet installations, siphons and counterslopes in the tubes cause
stoppages in suction.
To avoid such problems it is necessary to insert a "supplementary aspiration draining
valve " into the farthest point. When the piping is clogged by liquid the supplementary
valve opens and lets air in, which drives liquids into centrifugal separator thus clearing
the piping.
Once the piping is installed, it is advisable to carry out a tightness test: all outlets should
be closed up, the piping should be put under slight pressure and checked with a suitable
instrument; pressure must remain steady. An electrical cable for low-tension controls
will run along the piping.
An A version of Turbo-Smart installed in a system fi tted with a 40 mm main pipe and
two 30 mm branches (Fig. 6) services two dental chairs. Aspiration values would remain
optimal even in case of a 30 mm main duct, provided that the distance between the
farthest dental chair and the plant room is less than 12 meters.
The version B of Turbo-Smart (with password) on a main 50 mm main pipe fi ts three
dental chairs at a distance of 15 metres whereas on a main 50 mm cross-section pipe
it can operate four dental chairs at the same distance (Fig. 7, page 76).
