5.1 Transportation
Danger of injury from dropping!
The safety valve can weigh up to 2990 g and cause injury if it falls.
1. Always transport the safety valve carefully.
2. Wear suitable protective clothing, such as safety shoes.
Safety valve damage due to falling!
If the safety valve falls, the product may be damaged even if no damage is visi-
ble.
1. Always transport the safety valve carefully.
2. If the safety valve has fallen, it must not be installed.
3. Check the packaging when you receive the product. If the packaging is
damaged, the safety valve must not be installed.
5.2 Storage
Damage to the safety valve due to incorrect storage!
Unfavorable storage conditions can result in corrosion and material deteriora-
tion. The maximum storage period is two years.
1. Only store the safety valve in dry, cool, and corrosion-proof environments.
Avoid direct sunlight.
2. Keep the safety valve in the original or delivery packaging if you do not in-
stall it immediately.
3. Never use a safety valve that has been stored for longer than two years.
6 Assembly and installation
Danger of injury due to installation of the product while the system is run-
ning!
Installation of the product into a system while it is running can cause major in-
juries from moving parts.
Bring the system into a state in which working movements are no longer
u
possible. Wait until all moving machine parts come to a standstill, and pro-
tect the system against being switched on.
Danger of injury due to useful loads!
Useful loads that are carried with the help of compressed air pose a danger if
they are not secured before the pressure is switched off in the system.
1. Guide the useful loads into a safe position or remove them from the sys-
tem.
2. You may only then switch off the pressure in the relevant section of the sys-
tem.
The following must be noted during installation:
• The safety valve is packaged to protect it from contamination. Do not remove
the packaging until just before assembling the safety valve.
• All compressed air connections and control elements must remain freely ac-
cessible after assembly.
• The safety valve must be attached in such a way that it cannot be loosened by
jolts, vibrations, or the like.
• Make sure that the safety valve is only used as described in
use.
6.1 Preparing for assembly
1. Stop system operation and protect it from being switched on.
2. Return all carried useful loads to a statically secure position or remove them
from the system.

g 2.2 Intended
3. If required, exhaust stored compressed air from system parts in the immedi-
ate work area.
4. Make sure the relevant section of the system is without pressure or voltage
and protect it from being switched on.
5. Secure self-turning or other movable system parts before starting assembly
and installation.
6. Let the safety valve acclimatize itself for several hours before installation, oth-
erwise water may condense in the housing.
WARNING: Silencers, which are included in the scope of delivery, must be
mounted on the safety valve to prevent any damage to health due to loud noise.
• 3/2 safety valve: Mount the silencer to port 3 of the safety valve.
• 5/2 safety valve: Mount the silencers to port 3 and 5 of the safety valve.
6.2 Mechanical installation
Secure the valve using the through holes in the valve base. Refer to pattern for
the required dimensions.
To mount a single valve:
See g Fig. 11.
u
To mount the valve as part of a maintenance unit:
See g Fig. 12.
u
The valve must be mounted on both sides with one mounting element each
on the mounting surface.
Requirement:
The supply pressure must always be between:
• 3 ... 10 bar with internal pilot
• 0 ... 10 bar with external pilot. The external control pressure must be between
3 ... 10 bar.
Valves are delivered with internal supply. To convert your safety valve
from internal to external supply, contact our technical support.
The correct function of the safety valve with internal pilot supply is not
guaranteed if the supply pressure is lower than 3 bar.
1. Connect the pressure line for the supply pressure to connection 1 (1, IN).
2. 3/2 safety valve: Connect the operating line to connection 2 (2, OUT).
5/2 safety valve: Connect the operating lines to connections 2 (2, OUT) and 4
(4, OUT).
To connect the operating lines, use the following application example
if the safe retracting position of the actuator is the position in which
the piston rod is retracted. Siehe g Fig. 6.
6.3 Electrical installation
See
g Fig. 13
and g Fig. 14.
Connect the pilot valves.

7 Commissioning and operation
Danger of injury while working with the system!
Working with the system while it is running can cause major injuries from mov-
ing machinery.
1. Maintain a sufficient safety distance to moving machine components.
2. Do not work with the system while it is running.
