GENERAL INFORMATION

Batteries are the power source for almost all of the modern mobility products available
today. The design of batteries used in mobility products is significantly different from the
batteries used to start a car for example. Car batteries are designed to release a large
amount of power over a short period of time, whilst mobility batteries (commonly called
deep cycle batteries) release their power evenly over a long period of time. Therefore,
due to the lower production volumes and increased technological requirements, mobility
batteries are typically more expensive. Commonly, 2x 12 volt batteries are used together
in a mobility product giving a total voltage of 24 volts. The size of the battery (e.g. its
available power) is expressed in amps per hour (e.g. 10amp/hr). The higher the number,
the bigger the battery size, weight and, potentially, the greater the distance you can
travel.
Warning
1.
You can only use our original charger. Using other chargers will affect the
warranty of the product. Using an unapproved charger can result in serious
damage to the battery or power chair. Using the wrong charger can even cause
a fire hazard.
2.
Handle and dispose of the battery and charger carefully.
3.
Do not throw the battery into the fire. Dispose of the battery in accordance with
local regulations;
4.
Do not place the battery around the heating device. The battery may overheat
and may explode;
5.
Do not squeeze or puncture the battery. Do not expose the battery to external
high voltage, as this may cause internal short-circuit or overheating.
Warning
Do not charge the battery in a smoking or open flame environment; do not touch the
metal terminals of the battery; use only the batteries provided with the power chair. If
the battery is damaged or the battery case is damaged, contact your local dealer
immediately and do not attempt to repair it yourself.
Dealer alert
Wear insulated gloves and goggles when operating the leaking battery. Damaged and
leaking batteries should be replaced in a timely manner.
