Cause
Re-Used SmartPeg.
Wrong SmartPeg type
selected for the
Implant.
Bone or soft tissue in
between SmartPeg and
Implant.
Electromagnetic
interference. (Noise)
Instrument tip is held
too far away from the
SmartPeg.
Wrong charger used.
Wrong Osstell plug
adapter.
Uncharged battery.
No space, e.g. due to
adjacent teeth.
Wrong SmartPeg.
The Osstell IDx has not
been registered.
Classic mode is
activated.
Possible Solution
The SmartPegs are disposable and should only
be used for one or multiple measurements at
one treatment session, for a single patient only.
Repeated re-use may result in false readings due
to wear and tear of the soft aluminium SmartPeg
threads.
See SmartPeg reference list,
osstell.com/smartpegguide.
Make sure to clean the Implant prosthetic
connection before attaching the SmartPeg.
Remove the source of electromagnetic
interference.
Normally it is sufficient to hold the instrument
tip 3-5 mm away from the SmartPeg, but in some
cases as close as 1 mm is necessary.
Only use Osstell IDx with charger type
FW8001M/12.
Use correct Osstell plug adapter.
Charge the Osstell IDx.
Try to measure at a slightly different angle.
Ensure that the SmartPeg is compatible with the
implant system.
See osstell.com/smartpegguide.
Register the instrument at OsstellConnect.com
Follow the step by step instructions on
osstell.com/get-started.
Deactivate classic mode, see SETTINGS section.
