2. INTRODUCTION AND GENERAL DESCRIPTION
INTRODUCTION
This model is a constant current power source for arc
welding with a 3-phase power supply.
The special properties of this adjustment system i.e. high
adjustment speed and precision give the machine excellent
welding qualities in all coated electrodes.
OPTIONAL ACCESSORIES
- MMA welding kit;
- Remote control: by pedal; with 1 potentiometer; with 2
potentiometers (just for the I max=500A version);
- Tig system dc-hf (just for the I max=350A version);
3. TECHNICAL DATA
DATA PLATE
The most important data regarding use and performance of
the welding machine are summarised on the rating plate and
have the following meaning:
1- EUROPEAN standard of reference, for safety and
construction of arc welding machines.
2- Symbol for internal structure of the welding machine.
3- Symbol for welding procedure provided.
4- Symbol S: indicates that welding operations may be
carried out in environments with heightened risk of
electric shock (e.g. very close to large metallic volumes).
5- Symbol for power supply line:
1~: single phase alternating voltage
3~: 3-phase alternating voltage
6- Protection rating of the covering.
7- Technical specifications for power supply line:
- U : Alternating voltage and power supply frequency of
1
welding machine (allowed limit ±10%):
: Maximum current absorbed by the line.
- I
1 max
- I
: : effective current supplied
1eff
8- Performance of the welding circuit:
- U : maximum no-load voltage (open welding circuit).
0
- I /U : current and corresponding normalised voltage
2
2
that the welding machine can supply during welding
- X : Duty cycle: indicates the time for which the welding
machine can supply the corresponding current (same
column). It is expressed as %, based on a 10 min. cycle
(e.g. 60% = 6 minutes working, 4 minutes pause, and
so on).
If the usage factors (on the plate, referring to a 40°C
environment) are exceeded, the thermal safeguard will
trigger (the welding machine will remain in standby until
its temperature returns within the allowed limits).
- A/V-A/V: shows the range of adjustment for the welding
current (minimum maximum) at the corresponding arc
voltage.
9- Manufacturer's serial number for welding machine
identification (indispensable for technical assistance,
requesting spare parts, discovering product origin).
: Size of delayed action fuses to be used to
10-
protect the power line
11- Symbols referring to safety regulations, whose meaning
is given in chapter 1 "General safety considerations for arc
welding".
Note: The data plate shown above is an example to give the
meaning of the symbols and numbers; the exact values of
technical data for the welding machine in your possession
must be checked directly on the data plate of the welding
machine itself.
OTHER TECHNICAL DATA
- WELDING MACHINE: see table 1 (TAB.1).
- ELECTRODE-HOLDER CLAMP: see table 2 (TAB.2).
The weight of the welding machine is shown in table 1
(TAB.1)
4. DESCRIPTION OF THE WELDING MACHINE

Fig. A
on rear side :
1- power cable with cable block
on front side:
2- main switch ON/OFF with neutral position to adjust the
supply voltage.
3- control panel (see description).
4- connector for connecting to remote control (optional).
5- Negative (-) quick connection for earth cable.
6- Positive (+) quick connection for welding current cable.
POWER SOURCE CONTROL PANEL (FIG. C)
1- GREEN LED:
connected to the main supply and is ready for operation.
2- LED indicating triggering of thermal relay due to
overheating in welding machine.
3- Setting potentiometer for input overcurrent "HOT
START".
4- Setting potentiometer for welding current.
5- Potentiometer arc-force adjustment. At very low values
an optimal welding dynamic is obtained for "soft"
electrodes (e.g. rutile, stainless steel), at high values an
optimal welding dynamic is obtained for "hard" electrodes
(e.g. acid, basic, cellulose).
6- Selector switch for "LOCAL-REMOTE" mode

Electrical generator (Fig. D)
on rear side :
1- power cable with cable block
on front side:
2- main switch ON/OFF
3- control panel (see description)
4- 14p connector for connecting to remote control (optional)
5- Negative (-) quick connection for earth cable
6- Positive (+) quick connection for welding current cable
POWER SOURCE CONTROL PANEL (FIG. E)
1- LED normal conditions (active output)
2- LED Alarm (machine output blocked)
The display (4) will show an alarm message.
Machine reset is automatic when the cause of the alarm
is removed.
In the event of an alarm the following messages are
shown:
- AL 1:
triggering of thermostatic safeguard for
magnetic components.
- AL 2:
triggering of thermostatic safeguard for power
electronics (chopper)
- AL 3:
overvoltage in the power supply line
- AL 4:
undervoltage in the power supply line
- AL 11: phase failure.
3- "PHASE FAILURE"LED (program)
4- Alphanumeric display - 4 digits
Showing:
Welding current in amps.
The value shown is the setting for the machine when
loadless, while during welding the true measured value is
shown.
5- Knob for:
- encoder control:
Used to set and adjust the welding current "under load"
(from 5A min. to the maximum limit set for the particular
machine model).
- arc functions adjustment:
Used to adjust complementary welding parameters
(see10).
6- Key for selecting type of electrode for welding: used to
select the preset adjustments for the welding parameters
(Arc Force...) depending on the coated electrode used.
7- Key for selecting implementation of remote control (LED
)
NOTE: Selecting "REMOTE" is only possible if a remote
control is actually connected to the appropriate
connector.
