Connect a Festool dust extractor
with an extractor hose diameter of
36 mm or 27 mm (36 mm recom-
mended due to the reduced risk of
clogging) to the extractor connec-
tor.

Setting sliding fence
– Open the rotary knobs (3.1).
– Push the sliding fence (3.3) as near as
possible to the saw blade but without
touching it.
– Close the rotary knobs again.
6.6
Setting cutting angle
– Place the adjustable square (4.2) at the
original angle (e.g. corner of room).
– Close the screw (4.1).
– Open both clamping levers (3.2).
– Transfer the original angle to the saw by
placing the adjustable square on the saw
table and then positioning both pivotable
sliding fences fl ush against the adjustable
square.
– Close both clamping levers (3.2).

Power supply and start-up

Observe the mains voltage: The
voltage and frequency of the power
source must comply with the speci-
fi cations on the machine's identifi ca-
tion plate.
In North America, only Festool ma-
chines with the voltage specifi ca-
tions 120 V/60 Hz may be used.
7.1

On/Off switch

– Press the unlocking lever (1.5) for the saw
unit.
– Press the On/Off switch (1.4) for switching
on the machine. For safety reasons, it is
impossible to lock the machine in the On
position.
– Release the On/Off switch again to switch
off the machine.

Operation

Risk of accidents
• Before starting work, ensure that the saw
blade cannot touch the sliding fence or
other machine parts.
• Do not cross your hands in front of the saw
unit; never hold the workpiece with your
left hand to the right of the saw blade and
vice versa.
• Do not overload the machine, causing it
to shut down.
• Observe the specifi ed working position.
8.1

Speed control

You can regulate the rotational speed step-
lessly between 2700 and 5200 rpm using
the adjusting wheel (1.3). This enables you
to optimise the cutting speed to suit the
respective material.
Recommended position of the
adjusting wheel:
Wood
Plastic
Fibre board
Aluminium plates
8.2
Sawing workpieces
In unfavourable cases, the separated
workpiece parts can be caught by
the rotating saw blade and thrown
back when sawing strips. This effect
occurs especially with hard woods
and is dependent on the profi le of
the strip.
• Always ensure that no persons or objects
that could be injured or damaged are lo-
cated behind the machine.
• If this effect occurs when sawing a strip,
put an additional, fl at 25 to 30 mm thick
softwood strip (e.g. roofi ng board) be-
tween the sliding fence and the strip,
and saw through both strips together.
This prevents or signifi cantly reduces the
throw-back effect.
• As an alternative to the additional soft-
wood strip, a sliding fence with a pre-
installed wooden strip (491886) is also
available.
When sawing acute angles or alu-
minium (in particular aluminium
profi les), there is a danger of the
workpiece being caught by the saw
blade and thrown backwards.
• Hold the workpiece fi rmly and lower the
saw unit very slowly.
