1. Before using a lanyard, and to ensure its safe, effi cient
use, it is essential that the user be properly understood
the information given in the manual supplied by Tractel
SAS. This manual should be available to users at all
times. Additional copies can be supplied on request.
2. Before use, it is essential that users are trained in the
use of this safety device. Check the condition of the
components that are attached. The lanyard can only be
used by a single person who is trained and competent,
or who is under the responsibility of such a person.

4. If a lanyard is not in apparent good condition, it must
be verifi ed by Tractel SAS or by an authorised and
competent technician who must authorise the re-use
of the system in writing. A visual inspection before each

5. Any modifi cation or attachment made to the equipment
cannot be done without prior written approval from
Tractel SAS. The equipment must be transported and
stored in its original packaging.
6. Any lanyard that has not been subject to periodical
inspection within the last 12 months, cannot be used.
They can only be used again after a new periodical
inspection carried out by an approved and competent
technician who can offer written permission for use.
Failing this inspection and approval, the lanyard will be
dismantled and destroyed. If it has arrested a fall, it must
be dismantled and destroyed.
7. The maximum working load is 150 kg for lanyards.
8. If the weight of the user increased by the weight of their
equipment and tools is between 100 kg and 150 kg,
it is imperative to ensure that the total weight (user +
equipment + tools) does not exceed the maximum load
of each of the components of the fall arrest system.
9. This device is suitable for use on an open air site and
for a temperature range of -35°C to +60°C. Avoid any
contact with sharp edges, rough surfaces and chemical
substances.
10. If you must assign the equipment to an employee or
similar person, please comply with the relevant labour
regulations.
11. The operator must be in top physical and psychological
form when using this equipment. If in doubt, consult
a doctor or an occupational physician. Prohibited for

12. The equipment should not be used beyond its limits
or in any other situation than that provided for cf

13. We recommend that you personally assign the lanyard
to each operator, especially if they are salaried
employees.
14. Before using a NF EN 363 fall arrester device, the user
must ensure that each of the components is in good
working order: security system, locking system. When
putting on the equipment, none of the safety functions
should be downgraded.
15. In a fall arrest system, it is essential to check the free
space under the operator at the workplace before each
use, so that in the event of a fall there is no risk of
collision with the ground or any obstacle in the path
of the fall.
16. It is essential to maintain and store the equipment
in accordance with the instructions in the manual,
failure to comply with the section on maintenance and
storage can have a negative impact on the life of the
equipment.
17. An anti-fall harness is the only body-gripping device
that is permitted for use in a fall arrester system.
18. It is essential for the safety of the operator that the
device or anchoring point is correctly positioned and
that work is carried out in a manner that will minimize
height and the risk of falls.
19. For the safety of the user, if the equipment is sold
outside the fi rst country of destination, the dealer
should supply: a user manual, instructions for
maintenance, for periodical inspections and repairs
in the language of the country where the product is
to be used.

2.1 Defi nitions
"User": Person or department in charge of safe use of the
product described in this manual.
"Technician ": Qualifi ed person in charge of maintenance
operations described and allowed to the user by the
manual; a technician is understood as a person which is
skilled and familiar with the product.
"Operator": Someone working and using the product as
intended.
"PPE": Personal protective equipment against falls from
height.
