• Secondary Catheterization
Following filter placement, no central venous catheterization should be
attempted without fluoroscopic guidance.
The VenaTech® LP filter is designed for patients in whom the risk of thrombo-
embolism is believed to be permanent or of very long duration.
Indications for filter implantation are the following :
• Patients for whom anticoagulants are contraindicated
• Patients for whom anticoagulation resulted in complications
• Patients for whom anticoagulants failed or were insufficient
• Emergency treatment following massive pulmonary embolism where
anticipated benefits of conventional therapy are reduced
• Vena cava filters should not be implanted in patients with risk of septic embolism.
• Patients with a vena cava which has a diameter greater than 35 mm
(due to the risk of device migration).
• Known allergy to the materials contained in the kit (main raw materials:
CoCr 20 Ni 16 Mo 7 , Polycarbonate, Polysulfone, Silicone, Tetrahydrofurane,
Methylene Chloride, Polyvinyl chloride, Polyethylene, Fluorinated Ethylene
Propylene, Stainless steel, Polytetrafluoroethylene).
