(6), turn off the coff ee / hot water
switch (14) and close the knob (4).
• After having done this, rinse the
internal circuits.
• Place a container under the coff ee
dispensing spouts and press the coff ee
/ hot water dispensing button (14).
• Repeat this process 5 times.
• After rinsing, wait for the machine to
reach operating temperature. The light
(15a) comes on to indicate that the
temperature has been reached.
To avoid having to repeat this
procedure, we recommend that
you check the level of water in
the tank (1) to prevent emptying
the machine's water circuit. If it
does happen, repeat the above
procedure
• Take care not to pour water
onto the connector when fi lling
the tank
• The temperature light (15a) will
continue to switch on and
• off automatically during
heating. After having switched
on the machine, wait about 6
minutes for it to heat up before
making the fi rst coff ee.
4–2. PREPARING ESPRESSO COFFEE
Make sure that you have carried out all
the operations indicated in section 4.1
"starting the appliance".
PRE-HEATING
• Make sure there is enough water in
the tank (1).
• Depending on the number of cups of
coff ee you wish to make, place a one-
cup fi lter (8) or a two-cup fi lter (9) into
the fi lter-holder (10) and insert the
fi lter holder into the group head (5).
• Turn on the main switch (13), the
power on light (13a) will come on
to indicate that the machine is in
operation.
• Wait until machine reaches the
operating temperature in order
to dispense a coff ee. The light
(15a) comes on to confi rm that the
temperature has been reached.
PREPARING ESPRESSO COFFEE
• After pre-heating, remove the fi lter
holder (10), select the fi lter (8) if you
wish to make one coff ee or the fi lter
(9) if you wish to make two coff ees and
place it into the fi lter holder.
• Fill the fi lter with one or two measures
of ground coff ee (one measure per
cup) according to the type of fi lter
selected. Then level and press the
coff ee fi rmly but not excessively with
the coff ee tamper (12).
• Clean any coff ee residues from the
edge of the fi lter and insert the fi lter-
holder (10) into the group head (5),
moving it towards the right in order to
lock it in position.
• Place one or two pre-warmed cups on
the grid (7) under the fi lter holder and
turn on the coff ee / hot water switch
(14). The pressure gauge (3) indicates
the operating pressure.
• Once the required amount of coff ee
has been dispensed, stop delivery by
turning off the switch (14) but do not
remove the fi lter holder.
• After having switched on the
machine, wait about 6 minutes
for it to heat up to the operating
temperature before dispensing
the fi rst coff ee.
• To obtain a good cup of coff ee,
it is important that you use a good
quality, well roasted and correctly
ground coff ee.
