NOTE: If the cartridge is installed when you press down the protective lid,
the defibrillator will turn on for scenario selection. Press and hold the
On/Off button or wait 30 seconds and the defibrillator will automatically go
to the training standby mode. If you turn the defibrillator off with the training
pads cartridge installed without its protective lid, the defibrillator will chirp.
Attach the lid and turn the defibrillator off to return it to standby training
mode.
6. If the training pads cartridge is installed at this point, slide the latch at the
top of the defibrillator to release the cartridge. Remove it and store it in the
resealable plastic bag. Then install a HeartStart Adult (M5071A) or
Infant/Child (M5072A) SMART Pads cartridge so the defibrillator will be
ready for use in the event of an emergency.
NOTE: To avoid confusion when using the defibrillator in an emergency, be
sure to store training cartridges separately from the defibrillator.
MAXIMIZING SERVICE LIFE
The M5073A and M5074A Training Pads cartridges are designed for up to 100
uses. To help ensure continued performance, avoid placing the resealable film
cover or adhesive side of the pads in heat, direct sunlight, or against surfaces
that might transfer fiber, dirt, or lint. Periodically check the metal contacts on
the back of the cartridge and in the defibrillator's cartridge recess and clean
them with a damp soapy cloth if necessary. Do not use alcohol to clean the
electrical contacts on the bottom of the cartridge or in the cartridge recess of
the defibrillator.
When the original training pads
have reached the end of their
service life, you can order
M5093A Replacement Adult
Training Pads or M5094A
Replacement Infant/Child
Training Pads for the cartridge.
These include a set of pads and
a replacement resealable film. Change the pads as shown in the figure.
