2 Safety
These instructions contain important information which must be
followed when installing and operating the pump. These ope-
rating instructions must therefore be read before assembly and
commissioning by the installer and the responsible operator.
Both the general safety instructions in the „Safety precautions"
section and those in subsequent sections indicated by danger
symbols should be carefully observed.
2.1
Indication of instructions in the Operating Instructions
Safety precautions in these operating instructions which, if not
followed, could cause personal injury are indicated by the
symbol:
when warning of electrical voltage with
The following symbol is used to indicate that by ignoring the re-
levant safety instructions, damage could be caused to the
pump/machinery and its functions:
ATTENTION!
2.2
Staff training
The personnel installing the pump must have the appropriate
qualifications for this work.
2.3
Risks incurred by failure to comply with the safety
precautions
Failure to comply with the safety precautions could result in per-
sonal injury or damage to the pump or installation. Failure to
comply with the safety precautions could also invalidate any
claim for damages.
In particular, lack of care may lead to problems such as:
– Failure of important pump or machinery functions,
– Personal injury due to electrical, mechanical and bacteriolo-
gical causes.
2.4
Safety precautions for the operator
Existing regulations for the prevention of accidents must be fol-
lowed.
Dangers caused by electrical energy are to be excluded.
Directives issued by the VDE [German Association of Electrical
Engineers] and the local electricity supply companies are to be
observed.
2.5
Safety information for inspection and assembly
The operator must ensure that all inspection and installation
work is carried out by authorised and qualified specialists who
have carefully studied these instructions.
Work on the pump/machinery should only be carried out when
the machine has been brought to a standstill.
2.6
Unauthorized modification and manufacture of spare
parts
Alterations to the pump or installation may only be carried out
with the manufacturer's consent. The use of original spare parts
and accessories authorised by the manufacturer will ensure sa-
fety. The use of any other parts may invalidate claims invoking
the liability of the manufacturer for any consequences.
2.7
Unauthorised operating methods
The operating safety of the pump or installation supplied can
only be guaranteed if it is used in accordance with paragraph
1 of the operating instructions. The limiting values given in the
catalogue or data sheet must neither be exceeded nor allowed
to fall below those specified.

3 Transport and interim storage

The pump may only be transported/suspended

on the handle provided for transport. Never by
the cable. The pump must be protected against
physical damage.

4 Product and accessory description

4.1
Pump description (TP: Fig. 1, TS: Fig. 2)
The submersible motor-driven pump is driven by an enclosed
motor that is impermeable to presswater (pos. 1). Motor and
pump have a continuous shaft (pos. 4). Pump housing (pos. 3)
and impeller (pos. 4) are made from synthetic material. The flow
medium enters from below through the central suction opening
and exits in the TP laterally, in the TS by the vertical pressure-
pipe connection. The pump TS 40 has a built-in non return valve
(fig. 2, pos. 8).
The TP pumps are delivered with 2 different impeller types:
The single-channel impeller (E), (fig. 1, pos. E) with a comple-
tely free passage of 44 mm, is in the shape of a curved spiral.
It is used for sewage that contains fibrous solids.
The (VORTEX) impeller (F) (Fig. 1, pos. F) has short, radially alig-
ned blades which are only immersed approximately 1/3 of the
pump chamber height in the liquid flow. The completely free
passage is 44 mm. This impeller is used for gas-charged flu-
ids or sewage containing coarse solids, e.g. for draining pits,
whereby sand, stones and small pieces of wood must pass
through the pump. If this hydraulic system is used, no long-fi-
bre materials, rags etc. may be introduced.
TS pumps are delivered with a half-open impeller (H) (fig. 2, pos.
4). It pumps solids up to 10 mm Ø (no fibrous materials such
as grass, leaves or rags).
For stationary installation, the pump is screwed to a fixed pres-
sure-pipe (R 1| ... R 2|), and for transportable installation to
a hose connection.
The motor of both types is sealed with a mechanical seal on
the medium side (pos. 5) and with a shaft seal ring on the mo-
tor side (pos. 6) against the pump housing. So that the two se-
als are lubricated and cooled in the case of dry running, the
chamber (pos. 7) between the mechanical seal and the shaft
seal ring is filled with oil.
If the mechanical seal is damaged, small quan-

tities of oil may escape into the flow medium.
Three-phase current motors with ratings 1.1 / 1.5 and 2.2 kW
are fitted with a thermal winding contact (WSK) and are to be
operated using the DRAIN-CONTROL switchgear.
AC motors are fitted with a thermal winding contact (WSK) that
automatically switches the motor of if there is a threat of it over-
heating and switches it back on again once it has cooled down.
A capacitor/capacitors is/are fitted in the terminal box to ge-
nerate the rotary field. The terminal box is factory-wired and is
supplied already connected to the cable.
Three-phase current motors with ratings 0.55 / 0.75 kW are to
be protected against overloading with a motor cut-out to be pro-
vided by the customer.
The „A" model is supplied up to size P
nected float switch and plug for connection to the mains.
In single-pump mode the pump is switched on (N1) and off (N0)
with the levelling switch (fig. 3). In double-pump mode the 2nd
pump is set at a higher ON/OFF level (N2) (fig. 4). When the
maximum level is reached in the shaft a second levelling switch
(NA) activates an alarm.
