5 Assembly / Installation

The pumps in the TP and TS series are intended for the follo-
wing types of installation
– stationary wet-well installation
– transportable wet-well installation.
5.1
Assembly
– The pump must be installed in a frost-free place.
– The shaft must be free from coarse solids (e.g. building rub-
ble) prior to installation and commissioning.
– See catalogue for installation dimensions.
– The pressure-pipe must show the pump's nominal width.
– In the case of wet-well installation of pumps TP50 and TP65,
base elbows should be used (fig. 3, pos. 4).
– In the case of stationary wet-well installation of pumps TP and
TS with pressure-pipe (fig. 4) the pump is to be positioned
and secured such that:
– for pumps TS40 – TS65 the pressure-pipe connections do
not bear the weight of the pump;
– for pumps TP50–TP65 and TS40–TS65 the load of the pres-
sure-pipe does not act on the connecting sleeve.
– For each stationary wet-well installation a flap trap (pos. 2)
and a shut-off valve (pos. 3) with a full opening area are to be
fitted in the pressure-pipe (pos. 1).
– In dual-pump stations, these fittings are to be placed in the
pressure-pipe of each pump and connected by a collector
pipe (fig. 3 & 4, pos. 7)
– In transportable wet-well installations, the pump in the shaft
is to be protected against tippng over and slipping. (g.e. se-
cure the chain with slight prestressing). If used in pits without
a solid floor, the pump must be placed on a sufficiently large
plate or be suspended in a suitable position on a rope or
chain.
– The float switches are to be attached to the pump, the pres-
sure pipe or the shaft wall such that they can follow the wa-
ter level unhindered. When fastening the bottom switch to the
pump, make sure that the switch cannot be pulled into the
pump's intakes and does not fall below the permitted water
level.
– For TP pumps: When fitting the connections
ATTENTION!
on the outlet flange the depth of the tapped
blind hole M 16 is to fig. 6. The depth is 23 mm.
10
Maximum tightening torque 15 Nm (TP 50) 25
Nm (TP 65). Use enclosed O-rings.
– Only suspend the pump using a chain or rope
from the transport loop, never by the electric
cable or pipe/hose connection.
– When the pump is lowered into the shaft or pit
the connecting cable must not be damaged.
5.2

Electrical connection

Electrical connection should be made by a qualified
electrician. Current national regulations must be ob-
served (e.g. VDE regulations in Germany).
– Check that the mains current and voltage comply with the
data on the rating plate.
– Mains fuse: 16 A, time-lag.
– Pump/installation must be earthed in compliance with regu-
lations.
– Use a residual current operating device ≤ 30 mA,
– Use a disconnecting device to disconnect from the mains with
a contact gap width of min. 3 mm,
– The switch box for the pump(s) should be obtained on site
as an accessory.
– Connecting cables should be connected to the leads as fol-
lows:
Pump with three-phase current motor (3~400V):
– For the three-phase current connection (DM) the leads of
the free cable end are to be assigned as follows:
– Rating 1.1 kW to 2.2 kW
6-leaded connection cable: 6x1.0 Y

The free cable end is to be wired up in the switch box (see
switch box Installation and Operating Instructions).
Pump with AC motor (1~230V):
– AC connection (EM): The motor is already factory-wired t the
binding posts. The mains connection is made via the binding
posts L1, N, PE.
– In acc. with DIN EN / IEC 61000-3-11 the pump is to be pro-
vided with a rating of 1.5 kW for operation in a power supply
with a system impedance Z
0.125 (0.086) Ohm at a maximum number of 6 (20) switching
operations.
– In acc. with DIN EN / IEC 61000-3-11 the pump is to be pro-
vided with a rating of 1.1 kW for operation in a power supply
with a system impedance Z
0.142 (0.116) Ohm at a maximum number of 6 (20) switching
operations.
If the supply impedance and the number of switching opera-
tions per hour exceed the above-mentioned values the pump
can lead to transient voltage reductions and interfering vol-
tage fluctuations, or „flicker", because of the unfavourable
supply conditions.
Measures may therefore be required before the pump can be
operated properly on this connection; relevant information is
to be obtained from the local electricity company (EVU) and
the pump manufacturer.
– In the case of the „A" model an earthing contact or EEC so-
cket must be available. The unit is ready for connection.
