Initial commissioning
1.
Screw the locking nut (14) on further
and screw the pressure adjustment
screw (13) until it stops inside the valve.
2.
Screw the pressure adjustment screw
(13) back out of the valve.
Discharging the pressure
1.
Loosen the locking nut (14) and screw
out the pressure adjustment screw (13).
2.
Later, readjust the adjustment pressure
as described under "Adjustment".

Adjusting the back pressure valve
CAUTION!
The back pressure valve must be set
under the same operating conditions as
it will be subsequently used. Never
adjust the back pressure valve on a test
rig and then install it in a system. Con‐
sider also the viscosity of the feed
chemical.
CAUTION!
Risk of bursting system components
System components may burst if the
set pressure is adjusted too high.
The set pressure P
pressure valve must always be
less than the maximum permis‐
sible operating pressure P
pulsation damper, pump and
piping system.
The set pressure P
sure valve must always be greater than
the maximum permissible priming pres‐
sure P
plus the differential pressure
V
ΔP, which arises due to the mass
deceleration.

The priming pressure P
the height h is:
P
= h x ρ where
V
P
is in bar, h in cm and ρ in kg/cm
V
ΔP is approx. 1.5 bar for standard
piping up to approx. 3 m in length.
