MAINTENANCE SCHEDULE
Perform these required maintenance
procedures at the frequency stated in
the table. These procedures should
also be part of any seasonal tune-up.
To prevent serious
WARNING
!
injury, never
perform maintenance or repairs with
unit running. Always service and repair
a cool unit. Disconnect the spark plug
wire to ensure that the unit cannot
start.
A good preventive maintenance
program of regular inspection and
care will increase the life and improve
the performance of your pump.
This maintenance checklist is a guide
for such a program.
During freezing
NOTICE
weather, drain the
pump to prevent damage to the pump.
If unit will be
NOTICE
stored for a month
or more, drain the pump and follow
the storage instructions (See
STORAGE).
AIR FILTER
NEVER operate the
NOTICE
unit without the air
filter. The air filter must be kept clean.
If it becomes damaged, install a new
filter.
To Clean Air Filter
1. Loosen the knob (F) holding the air
filter cover (G) in place and remove
the cover (See Figure 7).

2. Remove the air filter (H) from the
air box. (See Figure 8).

3. Wash the filter in soap and water.
DO NOT USE GASOLINE!
4. Inspect the filter. Replace if filter is
frayed, torn, damaged or unable to
be cleaned.
5. Rinse the filter and air dry.
6. Reinstall the air filter
7. Reinstall air filter cover by inserting
the plastic tab (I) into the slot in the
cover (See Figure 8). Pivot the cover
down to seat against the air filter.
Tighten the knob hand tight.
NOTE: When cover is installed
properly, the plastic tab on top should
be visible and flush with the top
surface. If plastic tab is not in slot,
loosen knob and reinstall cover so the
tab protrudes through the slot
(See Figure 9).
