Align the head of the patient according to the

Frankfurt horizontal plane with the aid of the X-
ray positioning beam.
Exception: sinus image. Patient over-extends
the cervical vertebral column to the rear by
approx. 10° to 15°.

Correct any inclination of the head via the

height of the unit.
If necessary, correct the X-ray positioning
beam manually.
Direct the "upper canine" X-ray positioning

beam as exactly as possible to the middle of
the upper canine.
Have the patient smile so the upper canine is
visible.
